Need help with cooling system

Ok so here is my problem my 95 V6 mustang temperature gauge has been acting up recently. When I drive in town under normal driving conditions the temperature gauge would stay in the middle . as soon as i would come to a complete stop it just jumps inbetween the M and the A of the temp gauge . It also does this when I accelerate hard,but as I start to drive normal agian it slowly moves back to normal. ok now If get on the highway and i am driving at a constant speed the temp gauge needle starts to slowly move down inbetween the O and R .
I have changed my water pump and thermostat and it still does it. Help please

have you checked to make sure your fan is turning on when it reaches operating temperature?

i would buy a gauge to make SURE the temps are raising/lowering it might just be the stock POS gauge.

its probably not the guage, maybe the sending unit though


Id make sure the fans coming on, if it is... take it to a mechanic to check the temp sending unit.

Mine jumps down like that while cruising, I could probably change my fan settings to make it stay off a little bit longer and run a bit warmer. It is good advice to get a gauge that actually reads correctly however.

Sounds like the same exact problems that I am currently undergoing with my mustang. I have changed my thermostat as well and still have these problems. Have you figured anythign out yet? Being that this is a very old thread?
