97 runnin hot

97 cobra, procharger p1sc 8psi, 373 gears. i noticed that the car was running hot when the a/c was on while just cruzin at about 60 mph outside temp 90 degrees [needle on M in temp gauge]. if i slowed/stopped at a light for any length of time the temp would start to climb until i turned off the a/c. not wanting to take any chances i had the old rad pulled out and a brand new fluidyne installed on 08-22-06. all seemed fine until today [93 degrees] a/c on 60 mph , temp started to rise between the m & r on temp gauge. fan is working fine. turn off a/c and temp goes down. i am stumped. the local speed shop who has a good rep and has done all my work seemed stumped also but said this year cobra ran on the hot side anyway but that the fluidyne should have taken care of the prob. any info on the subject would be helpful.

Get a real guage in there so you know how hot its actually running. Those dummy guages arent anything close to reliable. Is your s/c intercooled? If not, thats probably why its running a little warmer. Try getting a guage, and let us know the exact temp its running at. It may be running warm, but nothing to worry about.

yeah its got a 3 core air to air intercooler and i have boost & fuel pressure gauge but no temp gauge . does anyone who has a temp gauge on this year cobra know what tha norm temp should be

If the temp consistantly goes down after turning off A/c then there's gotta be some correlation. Check your high and low pressure a/c lines to make sure nothing is bent. I'm not sure if the evaporator is easy to get to or not since I haven't worked on the a/c on my own car, but i would try to check if there's any obstruction.

Did your fluidyne come with a new rad cap? Make sure it holds the same pressure as the previous one.
Is the coolant clean and at the proper level?
When using your A/c does it cycle a lot and make more noise then usual?
With ambient temps that high, a SC, and having your A/c on I can see how your engine could be heating up. Something in your cooling system isn't doing it's job or it could simply be you're low on R134a.
