Jack Roush has had his name associated with the Ford Mustang since he debuted the first Roush Mustang at the 1995 Sema show. Roush has come along way since 1995 and has now introduced the Roush 427R Mustang based on the new S197 Mustang platform. The Roush 427R is the most powerful Roush Mustang in existence producing 427 Horsepower, hence where the number 427 comes from in the name.
Outside of the power numbers buyers will be treated with 18″ chrome wheels, stripe package and exclusive badging. The Roush 427R also comes with a much more fine tuned suspension setup than the Stage 3 Roush Mustang. Buyers will also be able to customize their 427R a bit more by selecting from a list of accessories to add to their 427R.

I alway like the idea of a better Mustang, but this car need more like 500+ horsepower, then it could compete with a Saleen S281 Extreme. The Stage 3 already has 415 hp. Still I like the knew Roush Mustangs alot. Maybe this car will be better on a road course than a Stage 3.

I'd like to see someone make a production 4.6 NA motor putting down 400 rwhp. Anyone can stroke a motor or slap on an SC. No imagination in that.... I love it when I see people with na motors putting down huge numbers due to their insight and knowledge of what combinations work.

I'm a little confused. If this car is suppose to be a step above the Stage 3 then why do they come with the stock GT brakes, and not the big brakes found on the Stage 3's. I looked at 4 of them on ebay, and didn't 1 have anything but stock brakes.

there just isnt enough displacement to make more than 350 on a 4.6. even the 5.4's with worked 4v heads, headerback exhaust, badass intake work, tuned, could only do 360 to the wheels.
n/a power needs displacement. a modular just doesnt have it, but it shines when you force air into it.

It would be very, very difficult to get that much power out of the 4.6 in N/A form. You'll never it in a production vehicle, I can guarantee you that. The heads would have to flow ridiculous numbers, the cams would have to be huge, and it would have to be able to turn around 8000 RPM. It would have absolutely no low-end or mid-range power, and it definitely wouldn't be something you'd want to drive every day.
However... I'd say it's definitely possible.

a handful of people have done it from this forum: Pics - 408 RWHP 99 NA Cobra - SVTPerformance
the guy pulled out every trick to get it but he's not the only one. I've seen others put down around 410rwhp that are all NA.
The bigger the cam doesn't necesarily mean more power. Properly flowed heads and intakes along with high compression and a bad ass tune can make a world of difference.
