well i have came to the decision of my car...
1. to keep it and build it up on the 3.8
2. keep it, swap motors, and then build that
3. start all over... sell my car, then buy a fox
i dont know really what to do, but most of my friends are saying that it would be smarter to start off with a v8 then a v6.... idk what does everyone else think?

Option #3. Selling your car and buying a fox is pretty much always the best option. Unless of course, you already own a fox.

you can make good power from the v6 but it wont be easy or cheap it will also be full of headaches as any build up is regardless. Money wise when your done you will be around what a stock 99-04 gt is at or a little faster~ I would go test drive a 99-04 gt and see if that much power will make you happy first.

Sell it and buy a 94-95 5.0. By doing that, you get the fox's motor, better brakes, 5 lug wheels, a more rigid frame, sportier interior, and better looks. Although, it does weigh a couple hundred more pounds, but IMO thats worth it. Fox's are sweet too, but thats my opinion.

dont expect a rigid frame just more rigid than something thats extremly not rigid.

yea but 260 hp in a V6 will feel and be faster then a stock GT making 260.
When i test drove a 2003 GT it felt slow as hell. I was like "is this it"? I could tell the weight difference affected the front end as well and I thought there would be a bit more torque.
so it's not 100% accurate comparison.
Making power isn't cheap with any car, so that's why you have to hang on to one long enough to make it worth all the moding and money. Even if you swap in a V8, you'll still have to strenghten up the chasis, stiffer springs to handle the extra weight, 8.8 rear end would be helpful, and look into some better brakes. that's just the simple stuff. I think it would also help if we knew what kind of budget you have for the car. that would be the deciding factor.

Next time you test drive a gt, drop it in 3rd at about 90, it has alot more spunk on the top end that the v6 can think of near stock form.

These are Fox body Mustangs. They were built form 1979-1993. SN95,(94-98) and New Edge Mustangs(99-04) were built on update fox body chassis.

meh i'm rarely doing 90 to begin with. I like having my license. If you gotta dump the clutch or downshift at speeds like that to make it feel fast then i'm not interested...
If you stick with what you have and build it up at least you know what the car has gone through. You might go out and find a fox you like but you don't know the history behind it or what may go bad on it in the near future. I had fun putting parts on my V6. It was good experience to mess with it.

No matter what car you decide on it's still going to cost money to make it fast.

Stay with the V6. Even though, like mentioned above, it will cost you probably more money then it would building a V8 which has a larger backing in aftermarket parts, you will have some edge on the V8s with weight, balance, and uniqueness. There are companies that offer a variety of parts for the V6 and they have experienced large power gains with built motors, turbos, superchargers, etc. I have a V6 and I am working on building it up to be a serious performer. Some things that you could go with right away are a CAI, true dual exhaust, UDPs, bigger throttle body and spacer, computer tune, rear end gears and tlok, and suspension mods. Those right there will make your ride feel totally different and you may really like the difference. Like slver2000stang said, no matter what you decide it is still going to cost money to make it fast.
