1996 Mustang P1443 Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Canister Purge (CP) Valve

Can anyone tell me where the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Canister Purge (CP) Valve is on my 1996 Mustang. I am getting an error code, P1443 checked online and that is what she told me.

The software SCT supplies to datalog is buggy

SCT Flash - So I am trying to use XC2LiveLink...

Which firmware do you have on your tuner? That is where the initial problem with data logging comes from. Then there was an iffy version of the live link on top of that. I had the same problem and can no log no problem since i updated my live link to the current as well as my tuner to the latest firmware.

I use that version every day to tune cars, it does have its quirks but I don't have a problem most of the time (and I have to rely on it, otherwise I can't tune cars properly). I primarily use on PC logging though, not on device.

The canister is in the drivers side front fenderwell, and I think all the valves are back next to or above the tank.

Those are the versions I used also. It does have a few problems but otherwise I didn't have too much trouble.

After a little researching I came across this:

So that would be the first thing to check. The other things you can look for are pinched, plugged, blocked, cracked, cut or disconnected vapor hoses between the fuel tank and carbon canister. Check for a cracked or broken carbon canister or fitting(s). Other than that, you will need a scan tool to check the EVAP valves, sensors and electrical wiring.

Normally the code for the gas cap is like P0404 or soemthing like that, and it never says anything about the cannister at all. I guess it could still be a bad cap possibly letting evaporated gas fumes through, but I doubt that with that particular code...

I honestly don't know.. if I could picture where it was on your car I could offer you more help.. but getting the canister vent off can be a PITA if you live in a corrosive area.. (near salt water?)

I saw his post but that doesn't help me visualize it, I know I've seen one on a 3.8 mustang but I cant picture it.. sorry
