Whos had their tonsils removed?

just wondering if anybody had them taken out.

if so what were the first signs knowing it was your tonsils?

cause i woke up this morning with that hanging thing in your throat swollen and now my girl is telling me its a first sign of your tonsils are infected...

now im all bummed cause i cant afford to get these bad boys removed if thats the case

thats not your tonsils.

tonsils are those big bumps on the very very far back of your mouth

Back in the OLD DAYS!!!! 1960's they would take tonsils out at the first sign of infection. I had mine taken out when I was 6. Now today that wont take them out till the 3rd or 4th tonsil infection. It is now been found out that the tonsil is a defensive mechanism to fend off more serious throat in infections. It acts as a sacrifical organ.

yeah i know that isnt my tonsil but was told its like first sign of infection

cause like right above my adams apple area feels like swollen too

These days you have to have chronic infections/tonsilitus before they will remove them. My daughter finally had hers removed because of that.

I like Corey had mine removed a long time ago when it was standard practice, once the leeches would not work.

i had mine out when i was six, which was great cause for a month all i could eat was jello and ice cream, it was like a kid's dream come true

As you get older, having your tonsils removed becomes more and more of an unpleasant experience. At least that's what the ENT told me. I had some trouble with mine a while back, and they said they wouldn't take 'em unless they absolutely had to.

I had an ex who's dangly thingy swelled up and it was just because it was really irritated from being sick with like strep throat or something. It wasnt a huge deal, but his swelled up to the point that it was cutting off his air supply. And no they didn't take his tonsils out. There is too much risk involved with taking them out now that they will not do it unless it is mandatory for your health.

yeah i looked it up online and said to just drink water and well it has gone down alot in swelling so i think im in the clear....hopefully

I had mine was removed when I was 2 or 3. It's one of the first memories I have. Kinda. I remember they put me on some type of anesthesia, and I felt fuckin' great. I've been doing drugs ever since.

I have mega tonsils. They have NEVER given me any problems whatsoever. *knocks on wood*
