My Car is Back
What engine, what engine is this? There is a story behind it.... is it a 3.8 or is it a 4.2... the secret is not let out yet 8)
Always did like the hoodscoop
No you can NOT see my exhaust cuz its under the car.... somewhere... way way wayyyy under... lol

hahah, well its funny.
We are at the engine place, and were in the guys office. His phone rings, he picks up says some things, and boom hangs up. He responds... yea that guy has a 4.2 that just threw a rod... happens all the time... hope it won't happen with the 4.2 you have now... and my eyes got big and i look at the guy like he's nuts. I glance over, and my dad is like staring at him like crazy, and he quickly changes to say... doh im stupid i mean 3.8....
wtf.!... so the secret is... i fucken have no clue whats under my hood. U can't tell by anything on the outside, no casings or anything. My dad new i wanted a 4.2 in it. My instructions are to not drive over 60mph, change oil in 500 miles, then again at 1500 miles, then every 3000 miles.
So... I have no clue if its just another ol' 3.8, or if my dad sly-ly got a 4.2 behind my mom's back, or what. But the actual block is SHINEY aluminum (as most new engines), and the valve covers are a pearly shiney black. I just gotta clean everything else in there. |

more than likely its a 3.8... and the guy was pulling my leg in the office, and i wouldn't expect a 4.2... but woudl be cool. but still the car runs 100% better, no mis-firing, great throttle response... just flawless, so overall im happy.... til my new car in a year.. which'll be a vert' gt or so |

Well, considering if it is a 4.2...the stock tune will NOT work with it and you will end up damaging something unless this place thinks it is a tuning shop as well...it has to be a 3.8. It isn't like you can just pick and choose what to put in there and not worry about it. A 4.2 would require different parameters than a 3.8...therefore for them not to tell you would basically be guarantying themselves some repeat business.
If it is a 4.2...then you best get your ass to cody and get a tune for it or else it might could be short lived....and I would make that clear to the clueless that if it is not a stock engine, then the stock computer is not going to work with it.

The car just didnt drive itself back from the shop. Why did you leave the shop period without knowing exactly what they had done... I mean wtf.... that's how people get ripped off. You just don't take a car in to get a new engine and then pick it up and have to wonder what engine you got in it!!!! |

because a.) my mom was with my dad and i... so no matter what things are not said. b.) my dad new what i wanted, and its unusual to do something without letting me know... which this was the case... |

umm ok this still makes no sense.
You just do not take a car in to a shop and say "Put whatever engine you want in it.... surprise me"
You or your dad said "Put x engine in car, do x amount of work"
So someone in your family knows what engine is in your car... and that person is your dad. So why not just go ask him right now which engine he put in your car?
Plus if the car runs like it did before then 1) someone tuned the 4.2 2) its got a stock engine in it
All of which your dad would/better know |

oh well,
i will find out for sure tomorrow when i talk to my dad, and visit the local mustang shop (*stang-hi*). until then, im just glad to have my car back and im glad its running better than ever.
what are some good products to use to clean the engine bay of a car?
well its a 3.8... it sucks and all but it was either that or a honda......... (that meaning get this engine put in or a honda)

it really wouldnt have made much difference anyway... unless you build the motor to take advantate its pretty much all about the same.

The one we had spec'ed out would have taken advantage of the displacement...and would have cost about $1k more total.
