I've been seeing for the past few weeks that Ford has desided to build a new Bullit Mustang in 2008. Apparently this is the next specialty Mustang in line after the Shelby GT. I read about a week ago where there's speculation that this might take the place of the 2008 Boss Mustang that was being talked about, and having the Boss Mustang pushed back until the Mustang is redesigned in 2009/2010, but I don't know this to be true, I just read it somewhere but I can't remember where. I don't know what engine it will use, or other specifics, but I'd assume it will probably be to the 2008 Mustang GT, what the 2001 Bullit was to the 2001 GT.
While new specialty Mustangs help keep people interested in Mustangs, I think we've seen enough Mustang GT's that have mild performance increases, halfway decent cosmetics, badges that give it the same name as a Mustang from the 60's, and prices that increase to much for how they compare to a GT.
Here's my idea:
How about a stripped down GT with a 400+ hp NA motor, and a suspension designed to show the true capabilities of the new Mustangs chassis.

I like it, I've always been partial to bullitts, just something about them.

If you have ever seen the movie you know its hard to stack any car up to the Bullitt Mustang just like Elanore from Gone in 60 Seconds its a marketing gimick but one I would happily buy into I must say it looks very sexy

I think it looks pretty good. What I think is an unattractive feature on the new Mustangs is the thin tires with thick sidewalls. But the wide rear lowprofile tires on the these sketches really set the car off.

Well, I sort of think I prefer my 235/55/17 Pirelli tires to the slack 245/45/17 Goodyears of the older GTS, lol.

Another reason I don't miss the Bullitt that much anymore. I think a new one would look good and people on imboc.com have been photoshopping the s197 bodystyle with bullitt design cues since the 05 concept was released. The eleanor car IMO was hideous and I still can't believe that CDC or whoever makes it has managed to sell just one of their kits. I mean it has DUAL side exhaust. They didn't even copy from the movie right. [/rant]
The Mrs. and I are looking forward to the new Bullitt and might consider buying a used one after they come out. We promised each other to NEVER buy a brand new car again. Just not worth the investment.

the bullit rims do like a little bit like the old Cragers, actually I always thought more like the Keystone wheels of the same era.

You might want to post this in a new thread in the 5.0 section. You will probably get better response since this thread is about the Bullitt mustang and isn't a tech section at all.
