I just got my take-off Ford 17 x 8 wheels and I was wondering if these were decent tires.

Tire Details - Discount Tire Co.

I was just gunna go with the Pirellis that come with the 17x8's for $118 a tire but I noticed the nitto's for about $5.00 more and the tread looks like they would give a little more performace.

What do you guys think? Has anyone ever had them before? I've had my car for about 14 months and I put on 14,500 miles a little over a year

Don't expect incredible mileage out of them, that's the only thing you have to look at. You sacrifice mileage on performance tires.

Do you mean gas mileage or the number of miles the tires will last?

You may want a taller tire the 05 use a 27" diameter Unless you lower the car you'll have a gap

I thought I had found a cheaper, decent, 275/40 tire there. But their 275/40's are just as expensive as everybody else's 275/40. Damnit.

I had the 555's on my 2000 GT and will be putting the 555's on the front of my cobra eventually. They are a great tire, and the mileage isn't too bad, but not near as long as a standard radial will get you. I had them on my GT for about 25k miles when I sold it. Having rotated the tires once...they had about 60-70% tread left. Obviously, with my lead foot, the original rear tires were at the lower percentage rate...and the rotated rears were catching up. lol

None the less, great tire. Worked very well in wet and dry conditions. For $5 more, definitely get them.
