Ok, i recieved my mac exhaust kit for the 2003 v6. When I talked to a couple places about installing they said talk to Ford first, so I did. They said if I installed exhaust it would mess up the computer and void the warrenty so I couldn't do it. I dont understand how it could mess up your whole system. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, they're just being @$$es. I haven't had any problems since installing my Borla.
The warantee will be voided if the aftermarket part is the cause of the problem.
Exhaust you should be able to do on your own tho, if you have a bit of room, and a few tools.

Ryan,
If I'm not mistaken the MAC cat back exhaust is a bolt on system

Ooo.. where does it bolt on? After the Cats? Not "true" dual exhaust?

If he got the bolt on kit then Ford is crazy.
It wont cause anything to go wrong with your car.

Yeh, but if anything happens under warranty they'll try to blame it on the exhaust. I'm just waiting till this summer when my warranty goes out. Then I'm gonna get to work.

It bolts onto the existing y pipe. It's not a true dual exhaust setup.

It's a pretty easy job. Just find somewhere that will let you borrow their lift for a little while or put your car up on jack stands or what I would prefer, ramps. Just get a sawzall so you can cut your existing exhaust out of the way so you can work on disconnecting your stock pipes from the y-pipe. Be sure to post pics when you do it

And get a spritzer with some soapy water to help you install/de-install the exhaust hangers. It helps a lot.

why isn't it a TRUE dual system? I mean you have 2 headers/manifolds, 2 mufflers, and 2 tail pipes. The crossover pipes usually boost horsepower, and help scavanging of the gasses, right? when you use the setups that bolt up to the stock Y you endup with an x(sorta). I just don't understand the thing about them not being true duals :-? . I think that the y pipe setups are better IMO, unless you have some kind of power adder. But i guess its the same kinda argument about flowmaster, borla, etc. on which is the best. oh, and i can weld :-P. not trying to offend anyone just my 2 cents.

if your keeping the factory y-pipe withe all thase cat converters on it, then it really doent matter if ts an h, an x, a y , or even a freakin q after the cats. theres no reason to worry about all those people who say its not a "true" dual. forget em. you can imitate a sound with any kind of configuration. having a y pipe can sound as good as having an x-pipe if you have the right setup and mufflers. you wont have the kind of power gains you would see if you had an aftermarket crossover, but your not going to have to worry about losing torque. be happy with the bolt on system, its all dual to someone whos just lokking for noise. you only need to worry about the stupid stuff like what a "true" dual exhaust is if you go turbo/supercharged or some other extreme power adder.

In some cases, It's cheaper to go true dual.
Example, I got a set of 02GT Takeoffs for about 100 bucks, then had them installed for 100 more. I didnt want to opt for the H pipe because, a) I didnt have the cash, b) the guy I took it to was giving me a hard time.
So 200 for a Dual exhaust system installed... sounds good to me
