Ive got an 06 and looking for a nice polished CAI. All I can find are the black plastic ones. Id like to have some chrome under the hood. Does anyone make a polished one? Im about to go look over at AEM unless someone knows of a better one. I have an AEM CAI on my 99 Si (B18C1 swap) and have loved it.
Also, is there noticeable throat with a CAI? Seems to me the 4.0L must sound pretty nasty with the intake opened up. My B18C Si had drastic differences with one.

On my Mustang I can't hear my intake hardly at all. Nothing like it was on my old GSR.
AEM makes some very nice intakes, here are some more.

I have a MMR and it's throaty, overwhelms my exhaust note which I like, but if I had to do it again I would go K&N plastic it runs cooler and cooler means HP.

Yeah JROC my B18C is alot louder with an intake than stock.
I just figured with the LS1 style front mount intake that it would be much throatier.
As far as plastic versus chrome... Id just like something to look at under the hood than more PLASTIC... who wants to pop the hood and look at more of that than is already there? I'll sacrifice a few horses to look good.

Tunable inductions from DeMoulet is sweet. Painted to match and easy to install. You can get the CAI and XCAL2 for $525,

There is a cut out in the rear of the CAI with a little piece of metal to screw into. It goes right in. Nice set up I tell you.

For $500 it better do more than look good... thats just utterly expensive...
Even if it nets 15-20hp thats still a good chunk of change...

JLT is the end all solution, but I just realized you have a 6 and they don't make one for the 6.

That's with an XCAL and a tune as well though, if I read his post correctly.

Still $500 and can have a dual cat back setup and net the same horsepower.

You won't get as much power from dual cat back as you will from a CAI and a good tune.

a "good tune" is one that involves a dyno. And if you did exhaust and a dyno spin you'd net more hp.

Actually, you can get good tunes for a pretty much stock car with a "canned" tune. It's not like a heavily modified car where things are always different. Stock cars are all pretty much the same. There are minor differences, but that's accounted for in the tune. They will be a little safer than a dyno tune, but I would personally rather have a safe tune and compromise a couple horsepower anyway.
I've seen gains of 25 rwhp on the GTs with just a tune and CAI. I would think the V6 could at least see 15. I can guarantee you that you won't see that with dual exhaust. Maybe 5 at the most.

Im going to jump in and say this,
CAI is a CAI. I can see the whole plastic holds less heat = more power theory but anyway you look at it all your doing with a CAI is trying to minimize restriction in the intake.
Any piece of smooth tubing with minimal bends will suffice...
Meaning, yes, buy off Ebay if you are prepared to make it fit or maybe send back to get the right part. But spend as little as possible on your CAI and actually buy a mod worth doing, like that tuner everyone is talking about.

Seeing as you know it all this probably won't make any difference but duals on the V6 make about +10 Hp depending if you go with X or H. The XCAL and TI CAI I have run$525 and I'm pushing close to +25 HP. Yes you do need a Dyno tune but if you get tuner who works with the CAI and XCAL systems he can set up a tune that will push plent of power. Running close to 205 HP with my $525. Not bad. But having a HONDA you probably wouldn't understand.... you know band for the buck (chrome tip and neon lights)

The reason CAI's come with the xcal and a tune is because apparently these 05+ stangs computers are pretty set in there stock working order and dont like much change. Even something as small as an intake requires a tune. It sucks, but its the truth.... The good thing is, you'll have that XCAL forever and you can always dial in dyno tunes later down the road as you add more to your car.

chrome tip and neon lights? lmao... for one its a full Apexi exhaust. Two, its a built B18C from a GSR integra, THREE neons never really did it for me.
I think there are more neons on riced out SN95 V6 Mustangs than Hondas to be quite honest with you. I dont have a body kit, or a wing, hell its pretty much stock on the outside aside from Si rims and a jdm grill kit.
Why does everyone think that just because someone owns a Honda that they "rice" it out. I think you're terribly mistaken. I bought the Mustang because it was a good deal and i love the way it looks and turns heads. If I wanted power Id have gone for the GT but why have two cars in the low 13's and pay the insurance on a GT.
