IRS Cobra Problem

Have ya'll heard about Ford putting the wrong sized bolts(12mm instead of 14mm) on the IRS Subframe of 99-04 Cobra's. I've never heard about a recall for this problem, but you would think that Ford would issue one.

i should check mine out. im sure you can use a grade 8 bolt from the hardware store correct? no way im paying 18$+Shipping for two bolts.

whats it mean if you get the same clunk in a Solid Rear (GT)? i just figured this clunk was just ford driveline tolerances being very loose.

I'm sure you can. You might ask ask Ford to fix it if your car has the wrong size bolts. This seems like it would be a safe issue to me.

By the way, I got this out of the July 2004 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords.

ford claims they are the correct size but they are not the 12mm was used in pre 99's (I know from direct experience with using my old LCA's on my 01 mustang (WRONG SIZE 12mm bolts!)

Basically go to maximummotorsports and just do what they offer for the IRS and be good.
