Ya'll may have already heard that there's going to be a Anniversary Package offered on 1000 Shelby GT500's starting in the first quarter on 2007, but here's a little info on the car. The biggiest news is the car is being put on a major diet, and is expected to lose upwards of 500lbs through the use of an Aluminum block, Carbon Fiber body panals, and other lightweight exotic materials.
Nah! I'm just playing with ya'll. I don't think the car is going to lose any weight. Infact it will probably gain some weight with those Twanky inch American Racing Shelby Razor wheels. The good news is the car got the good looks it had lost back, and IMO it looks about as good as the concept car did. Of course the wheels help, but so do the carbon fiber lower front fascia splitter and mirror covers, aluminum hood grille inserts, deck lid SHELBY letter kit, sequential tail lamps, front and rear brake duct kits, Anniversary stripe package (convertible models), 40th Anniversary badging including side, grille and trunk badges. The new Shelby/Eibach suspension kit lowers the car 0.8" in the front, and 1.6" in the rear, and bigger Anti-Sway Bars are also included to help improve the cars looks and tighten it up for better handling.
Also include is a Shelby Signature Borla exhaust System which is said to add power to the car, and give it a deeper, throatier exhaust note.
The packages will be installed at SAI’s (Shelby Automobiles, Inc) new modification center, and sold through Shelby Automobiles Las Vegas headquarters, and a national dealer network.
I have only seen convertiable versions of the car, but I would imagen that they will be offer as a coupe as well. A coupe would look muck better IMO. If your interested contact Shelby Automobiles at (702) 942-7325 or visit the company's web site at
