If I have a 5.0L 302 with 345 horsepower, can this engine be built up to 650 horses and what do you think the cost might be to do this?

Not with the stock block. At least not reliably with the stock block. They are known to split around the mains at around 500 rwhp.

If I were you, I'd look into Ford's new line of "Boss" short blocks. They are probably capable of handling around 800. With one of those stroked out to a 347, a nice set of heads, and a blower... you can make 650.

Honestly, you may come out cheaper that way.

Go for a Dart block and heads so the stock block wont split and build the engine or have it built by your local speed shop

it would be cheaper to just buy the create motor! Its not going to split
