So I have a horrible rattle in my trunk when my bass hits and I think I found the problem.
What is the part with the flaps in it? Whenever my bass hits the flaps vibrant insanely fast causing all kinds of noise. |

no idea... maybe its there in case theres a leak in the fuel filler and it can vent out? I duno...

i'm with Zim. i think it's a vent for leakage or fumes.

never seen one on a mustang.. but in exploders they're used to help regulate airflow throughout the body to reduce wind noise..

Actually the small line is a fuel drain for the inside of the fuel door. If you pull out the fuel nozzle and fuel drips inside the fuel door it drips into the plastic surrounding the filler pipe. That small drain hose allowes the fuel to drin onto the groud instead of just sitting inside the fuel door making everything nasty and drip down the side of the car.

which is what I was talking about.. any way you can buffer it? wrap where the flaps land in electrical tape or something? keep the noise down?

Just an exhaust vent for the cabin to draw fresh air in.. It's fine to glue it shut.
