So my lower intake manifold...

Is leaking coolant onto the front of the motor.. I'm 99% certain that its warped because a few of the bolts didn't want to start properly (like they were off-angled) so I think its time to think of a new intake setup..

I know a lot of intakes are better than the GT40s I have.. But I have GT-40 heads -- do I need a specific intake to fit these?

Which would you recommend?


While I'm in there I'd like to replace my lifters, which are making noise.. any recommendations on brands? should I replace the pushrods as well?

And lastly.. My water pump leaks through the weep hole (the slit on the plate at the back of the water pump) so I'll change that while I have everything apart... any recommendations on water pumps?

The GT40 intake is actually a really good intake. The only reason I didn't buy one is because they are a little expensive. But if you don't mind the cost, you may want to consider buying another. Plus the tubular runners just look cool.

Other than that, I'd say probably the Edelbrock Performer RPM II (since you do have a 331, otherwise I'd say just the regular Performer).

As for the lifters, go to Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 and look for the FRPP lifters. They are cheap and probably the best lifters you can buy. They also have the pushrods, but they probably aren't really necessary to change. If it was me, I'd probably go ahead and do it anyway though.

For the water pump, I'd probably just get a stock replacement.

I made close to 500 rwhp on a Cobra intake.Nothing wrong with them IMO.They make great torque especially.

the cobra is an excellent intake.. people are quick to underate them

however most of the 331 guys seem to be doing very well with the trick flow stuff...
oh and I'd consider a high volume pump, these are all things im going to do.
