Looking at doing intakes/cam here soon. I'm wanting opinions/suggestions on what durations to look at and who is the best to talk to. I want you to know there is a cam in there at idle, but not to the point I'm hurting performance. Basically, the best idle with the best performance.
For background, I have CAI/Exhaust/EGR delete, extent of performance right now. Gonna be running 4.10's with this as well as an offroad x and 94-98 manifolds.
So basically, what specs would you recommend running for this setup? It's going to be this way for a while and I'd like to at least be able to do heads without changing cams, I'll be ready to change specs later on, just want this to be the best I can for my current setup.

Would something like a 214/214 duration, .48/.48 lift, 110 lobe be too much? lol

Your not a big speller either.
A cam is the heart of the engine, you have it designed around the other things done to the car.

the cam turns and moves the push rods up and down. the push rods push up on the rocker arms which open/close the valves that let air in/out of the cylinders.

110 LSA sounds like quite a bit... I don't know about the 3.8, but with a 5.0 you can't expect a motor with a 110 LSA to really have much of an idle.
I'd look for something along the lines of a 112 or 114. For reference, I'm running a 114 LSA, .512"/.512" lift, 218*/224* duration cam in my car.
You also may really want to look into a cam that is split duration. Ford motors are notorious for having "less than healthy" exhaust ports, and therefore benefit from a little more duration on the exhaust side.
The lift sounds about right though.

Well how much would it hurt to do say heads and cam and leave the intakes for later. I know the car will be kinda starving up top with the stock intakes, but it will only be for a year tops. Just kinda seems pointless to rip the same part of the engine down twice.

What would you recommend kirk? I can either do gears/intakes/cam now or do cam/heads for now. Which would you do first?

cam/heads now imo. Get the hardest part (and most expensive) out of the way

The more I look at the powerpacks from supersix the more I like the stage 2+. I wouldn't be able to do gears for a while...maybe the 7.5 would hold up to that. Still kinda wanting recommendations on what I should be looking for cam-wise. Where's brother corey when ya need him, I liked the idle his car has.

I agree with Brent.
The 7.5 will be ok, I am still running one.

Yea I think the 7.5 will be fine they are alot stronger than people give them credit for. I had a 7.5 with 3.73's in my supercharged 82 5.0 and ran 28-10.5 mickeys with lots of track time and never had a problem however I wouldnt recomend it. as for as the cam I dont know if you are a 5-speed or auto taht cam would never work in an auto the 110lobe sep would bleed off to much compression at low rpm you def need something more along the lines of what b-bunt was saying about 114

Tom from supersix has recommended a 218/224 112 lobe, how's that sound to ya'll? I'm still trying to learn all these cam terms.

I have a 216/216 112 lobe. A vid of my exhaust is in my gallery. It does have a lot of lope but pulls real hard above 3g's.
