Looking for suggestions on new batteries...mine is all but gone. Left the car parked for about 3 days, came back and it's dead as a doornail. So, what batteries do you guys suggest?'

Btw, had the battery checked, I have a bad cell, it will crank now, but I can't leave it sitting for very long.

Get a dyna-batt. If you search you can find one for your car for around $90.00
They have like a 10 year guarantee on them and some of them only weigh around 13 pounds and take up less space under the hood.

I'd either get the Optima or find out who makes the factory Ford batteries, and get one of them. I believe they are labeled as being "Motorcraft", but I'm sure another manufacturer actually makes them, just like everything else.

I've seen factory batteries last ridiculous periods of time.

I'd also recommend whatever kind of battery it is I have in my '90 (I'm not really sure). It was in my '91 when I bought it. It already looked old at the time (I'd guess 5 years?). That was four years ago and probably a good 50k miles. It has a little corrosion on the terminals (always has since I've had it), but it still cranks every single time. I'll try to remember to look tomorrow and see what brand it is.

I must agree with Mr. Bunt. My dads 97 F-150 has around 170,000 miles and is over 10 years old, and it still has the same battery it came from the factory with and the truck starts as good as it ever did.

Well I dunno if I just ended up with a bad battery or what...my factory motorcraft battery turned to crap. I know it's my system, and my former system that did it in, which is why I'm looking at something with higher cranking amps (like the optima) to solve this problem in the future. Just spending 180 on a battery is not sounding appealing right now.
