The green is my run back in July with 111 degree weather and NO driveshaft, headers, and coolent bypass trick lol
The red is where I stand now. We put the timing up 2 and thats what the blue run was but I belive it was running almost too lean. Could have left it but I didn't want too, he was talking about octane booster and I said, "nah lets just go with the red run to be safe"
So I ended up with 298hp & 299tq rw sae dynojet. Thats with 25 degrees cooler weather, driveshaft, headers and the coolent bypass trick. Its pretty much a winter tune. I'll haft to go back to another tune to be safe when its middle of summer. He said we might be able to run the winter tune in summer but I will haft to spend more money!!! lol Or I could just switch back.

All that with only 6 lbs of boost? without the 6 lbs itd be around what? 220 to the wheels? that's a nice bump in power out of a 4.0!

how much are you planning on trying to crank out of your 4.0 I've got one i want to supercharge or turbo charge sooner or later but i'm waiting to sell my 1968 Mustang Coupe b4 I do that. I just wanted to know what someone else wanted to crank out of the 4.0 w/ the newest bodysyle.

man there is people on these forums that already popped there motor and are building the engine. Im happy for where its at right now. I don't need to much more with no internal work, 300rwhp is fine for a V6! Im going to get rid of the cats meybe this summer and thats it besides suspension replacement parts. I want to start saving up for the heads, cams and all that good stuff later on in the year so I can give it some real boost! like 9-10psi Tranny will need to be rebuilt eventually. I really don't see the point going to 10 psi yet. People with 10psi are at like 317rwhp snf 298rwtq. Thats not that to much more from were im at with all the extra boost/ wear on the engine. I'd rather build my engine then boost that much. 6-7psi is somewhat conservative.

yeh, except all that monet and my 100 shot will put out 354 hp 452 torque for under $1000. and dont say its dangerous because even ford themselves have stated that they built the v6 with people using nitrous in mind. at least up to 100 shot totaaly safe as long as you do it right and retard your timing and use colder plugs.

Holy old thread batman...
Make a new thread instead of arguing your point about Ford actually building an engine to handle power from the factory. We all know that's bullshit.

There is just no way you can convince anyone that ford ever built a V6 mustang with performance in mind. The v6 is simply the low man on the totom poll making them money for nothing. It's the economy sports car. Two things that should have never gone together.
I'm happy that you are having good experiences with your nitrous. That's all good and well. But...when you're pulling your engine apart to replace fried pistons and rings in a few years, just remember mine will still be running.

people that think nitrous automatically damages your engine are idiots, the same idiots that damage thier engine by not knowing what they are doing. its just as easy to damage your engine with a supercharger and not changing your injectors, lol. as long as you do the things you need to do to prevent detonation it causes no unusual harm. in fact your engine runs cooler.

Well that's all fine and dandy, we all know that a good tune with nitrous won't necessarily hurt the engine.
However, explain to me your statement about ford making the new 4.0 to run nitrous. This is a claim that I want to see backed up.

I also have a hard time believing that ford designed the 4.0 with nitrous in mind, it was designed for explorers and rangers, not a performance car. I do agree that you can do a lot with tuning to make nitrous a lot more safe, but I don't think it had much to do with forward thinking by ford.

I have alot of respect for the S197 mustangs performance-wise. I have problems keeping up with a stock 5 speed with my bolt on 02. I just don't see Ford thinking ahead enough to make their economy model "sports car" able to handle boost or nitrous. I don't see how you can build an engine specifically to handle nitrous either.
So basically, if Ford didn't forge the internals on the S197's, there's no way they built the V6's to handle nitrous.

lol, the 4.0 is an old engine. It wasn't made just for the new sixers and certainly not for N2O in mind while it was being put in Rangers and Exploders.

Yeah, but then they put it in a Mustang, which obviously means that it was designed 100%, from the ground up, for nitrous. I thought it was quite clear.
After all, it has a 10.5:1 compression, all forged internals and a 4340 Eagle crank... right?

I know this is old but I really have nothing better to do right now
2005 Ford Mustang V6 - Zex S197 Nitrous Kit - 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine
The kit brings along five different nitrous and fuel jets for a 75-175hp hit spread. The 75 shot's a no-brainer; Zex says it doesn't even dictate any timing retard assuming use of premium fuel on a stock calibration. Going to any of the larger jets certainly requires recalibration at the least, and possibly fuel-system upgrades. In other words, proceed carefully.
