You are both going to need shocks/struts and caster/camber plates in order to drive the car for any decent amount of time that low. Also, go ahead and set aside some money for a good alignment.

My cars got a 2" drop, maybe more. I used the H&R supersport springs... they run about 230 bucks from stangsuspension.com. If you're as low as me, you're going to need caster camber plates to get your alignment corrected since your stock plates wont adjust anywhere near the correct amount. You'll want shocks/struts too that can deal with the higher spring rate that the springs will give you. I think I spent around 650 bucks on my whole lowering experience with the shocks/struts, springs, and c/c plates.... so its not too bad, just make sure you do it right so you're not buying tires every few months with the terrible camber

bumps arent too bad... I never scrape on anything but thats because I have an O/R midpipe, so no cats hanging down.

basically you can lower your car to a nice level, sure you wish it would be lower but you can still actually drive your car with out issues. Then you can go to low and run into issues. You just have to decide if you can live with the consequences of lowering it more than 1.5 inches. Go to maximum motorsports for springs unless you want to go cheap with C springs from ford for a 1 inch drop all around.

well caster camber plates basically allow you to adjust the strut shaft in or out or forward or backward. The shaft comes up through the CC plates and the plates are bolted to the strut tower. Since the strut is bolted to the spindle which also part of where the wheel mounts by altering the strut shaft angle you alter how the tire is aligned with the frame of the car.
the other end of the spindle is bolted to the A Arm as well. You can pull the top of the tire in or push it out or shift it forward or back to meet your alignment needs for proper tire wear or what ever you are wanting.
MM cc plates have 4 bolts (strongest ive seen) and allow for you to flip the top plate for more of less camber (the place where the strut comes through is off center allowing you to flip it side to side for more adjustment if needed) no other does this. You can also raise the strut shaft so the same amount of the strut shaft goes into the strut as before. If you didnt do this and you lower the car more of the strut shaft will go into the strut body due to you raised the strut body upward and the shaft has no where else to go.

basically when you drop a car with the stock CC plates the tire stick in more (to much negative camber aka top of the tire is to far inside the fender well and bottom of the tire is to far outside) and this wears the inside of the tire. CC plates allow you to push the strut shaft in/out to adjust the tire in/out so you wear your tires correctly by pushing the top of the tire out and pulling the bottom of the tire in.
The stock CC plates offer no adjustment so you just live with it if you dont have CC plates. There are getto things you can do but just buy CC plates.
