Pretty good movie.
It reminded me of a documentary a bit because it portrayed the mayan culture pretty realistically (i think). they even created a language just for the movie. the whole thing is in subtitles.
as for the quality of the film.. its a mel gibson film. he pushes the whole gore thing. it didnt really bother me, some of it was really cool... but it was over the top if you know what i mean. the movie itself was pretty good.. i enjoyed it, but its one of those films you see once, maybe twice, and dont want to watch it more than that.
the best part of the movie experience was the previews. there is a movie that looks pretty good coming out called 300. its about sparta and looks like sin city style. not sure if its going to be a good film.. it could be one of those movies that is made to look cool but isnt. i suggest checkin out the previews for it.

Me too. I hate subtitles. I could see if its an import movie like Crouching Tiger or whatnot, but cmon, this movie is made for english audiences and its subtitled.
300 looks fucking awesome. Im digging the whole style that SinCity brought around.

Yeah, I've seen the preview for 300 as well, it looks amazing. SinCity is one of my recent favorites.

i believe they do that for the effect. in Passion of the Christ, Gibson did that to give that realistic feel. i know the events were real, but it puts you there. back then, they didn't speak english.
if there's one thing that bothers me is if you have a russian in russia, he should speak russian. not english with a russian accent. i understand the speak english if you are in America, but, it's just a freaking movie.

yeah i saw that 300 preview when i saw saw 3
def fuckin bad ass i cant wait for that movie to come out for real, and i know nothing about it  i just think its gonna be violent and this dude right here loves violence

without them, the movie would have been really, really stupid.
after the first scene you dont even notice the subtitles.

Subtitles just mean that I need to wear my glasses into the theatre. Other than that, they don't bother me.
