My car is wired for subs. I got a pioneer 760w amp on my screwed to the back of my rear seat. I bought a box w/ 2 subs claiming 450w rms/ 900w peak, I don't believe but whatever. They are C4's all black 'special edition'. Anyways so my problem is that my subs cut in and out. It cuts out when the song begins to bump. If I keep them low volume they're fine until the bass is too much and then it cuts out. How do I fix this?

sounds like the amp is clipping. Basically the amp is trying to push more than it can, its falling under 10v at times and cuts out. Buddies truck did the same, added a 10farad cap (audiobahn) and it fixed the problem. Then again audiobahn amps have the voltage gauge and a clipping meter built in.
or the subs are shorting when they hit a certain point, which i doubt.
you know in certain amps you can adjust the amp to more of the subs specs, i really have no clue on pioneer cause i never messed with there products but if it does you might just wanna mess with the dials I know ive personally seen amps get "tuned" so bad like the dials are all the way up or certain switches are in the wrong way (mostly for JL Audio) and now the amp is overloading itself and pushing more power then its suppuse to be pushing.
if that amp doesnt or even if it does you can always have the amp tested at a local audio place to check and see.

I have the same amp, how do you have the subs wired and are they dual or single voice coil?
I had my 2 dual voice coil subs wired up at 1 ohm for a short while, I had the same problem. Wired them up at 2 ohm and it fixed the whole problem. It's a good strong amp, haven't had a problem out of mine for 3 years now, and that's saying something for me.

i have the same amp and i had to get bigger power wire and that helps but it still cut out at full volume so adding a capacitor will definitely help, but for a 760 you definitely dont need a 10 farad cap, it generally goes 1 farad per 1000 watts of power so a 1 farad should be plenty but if you want to play it safe go with a 1.5 or 2 farad
