This would have been an excellent comparison if the GT500 had been a coupe. Still its a very fun video for the Mustang fan to watch. Watching the S197 Roush in action on a racetrack gets me pumped. Beautiful car, fuck a Terminator I'm getting a new Roush Stage 3 FTW - Fuck The What.
J/K I can't afford a new Roush Stage 3, and Cobra's are awesome and I love them.
Still these British fucks think they know everything about a Mustang and they don't. Isn't the 390 in the origanal Bullit referring the the engine displacement and not HP. Also GT500's have 5.4's, not 4.6's and thay have 200BHP more than a GT and not 175. They also come with 14", 4 piston caliper Brembo's.
Also people, this thread is not to become some pissing match about how we feel about the GT500. That will ruin it. So please don't do it. The GT500 would have done much, much better if it was a coupe.
i can't believe they got that stuff wrong. They said the gt500 was a 4.6 with a bigger supercharger than the roush And I don't see how 14" 4 piston brakes like those don't brake well..but i've never driven one.
I went into a local dealership a few days ago to check out the showroom and they had a gt500 and a stage 3 roush right next to each other. I'd definately take the roush plus it is like 20 grand less. Not to say i don't like the gt500, but the roush looks waay better and obviously handles way better.
I wonder what happens when they compare it to europe's best like he was saying

nice, but the shelby is the better car. For a slight investment you can upgrade the springs and struts/shocks and do some chassis stiffining then lets see whats better. Either way fun watch.

Look here on page 2 for the answer my good fellow. The Roush was the better car but the Stag was the better driver.
back before the 03/04 cobra came out the roush was very nice in stage 3 but they lost a ton of their thunder after the cobra was upgraded and they still are meh power wise. Im not 100% sold on the new look upgrade, I liked the previous style better but it is growing on me.

A Roush Stage 2 and up is still a better handling car than a Cobra, SRA and everything. Especially the new Roushes, many magazines have ranted about how good this cars handling and ride quality is.
lol that really doesnt sell me due to how cheap and easy it is to surpass the handling of the roush. If I got a roush I would change it out regardless with better parts. They really dont do much of anything suspension wise anyway....

Alright, well how about if you wanted to build a car for strickly handling purposes a GT Mustang is a better starting point than a Cobra, it has less weight over its nose, and it carries it a good bid lower in the chassis.(throwing in a 5.0 helps even more) Also my Roush will outhandle any stock Cobra that doesn't have an R at the end. Aside from from big sticky rubber(BFG G-Force KD tires, 265/40/18 front, 295/35/18 rear) my car has a bigger sway bar,(I think only on the front but I can't remember) some very nice upper and lower rear control arms, Bilsten shocks & struts, and Roush springs. Now I just need to get some subframe connectors that will clear my side exhaust. And yes you can easily make a regular Mustang handle better than a Roush. Maximum Motorsport, and Griggs Racing has it already figured out for you, but it will cost several thousands of dollars, and it will not have as nice a ride as the Roush. No Mustang will that will outhandle it, unless of course you buy the Roush suspension for it. I promise you that Roush spends alot of time refining the handling of his cars. BTW the new Roush Mustangs handle a good bit better than the old ones, and they were pretty damn good for a Mustang sold directly from a dealership. I would recommend you try and get a Ford dealership to let you test drive a new Stage 3, and throw it around a few turns, I honestly think you would be very impessed, but I can't get the MoFo's to let me drive one.
