Supersix Motorsports Stage 3

I have a couple of questions. First of all, I have been looking around to get my 1998 3.8 Liter V6 Pony more power and I have been looking at turbochargers and superchargers, but I have heard that they can decrease an engine's life and it will also require alot of engine and car modification and alot of money to keep the turbo or supercharger working. So I began to look into the superstreet Motorsports Stage 3 Powerpacks and they say that it will give my car around 100 horses. Does anybody know whether my car will have 250 horses by adding the stage 3 to my car and is the stage 3 worth 2 grand. I talked to another mustang guy and he said that the stage 3 will not give me 250 horses unless I add some sort of power adder. Is this True

i believe brent is doing a stage 3 swap into his car from the same company. It will depend on your setup and cam etc, but i think he is looking to be close to that.

If you can, can you tell me what cam he is using and what parts work the best when ordering the stage 3. I want to order the stage 3 so I can be close to 250 horsepower if that is possible

I don't have the Stage 3 but I have the equivalent from Rpm-Mustangs.com

I have a 224/230 cam but I have a 4.2L Crankshaft so that makes a difference when determining your cam. I have a Cut and Weld Upper Intake and a Stage 3 Lower intake with Stage 3 heads.

The end result will depend on how aggressive you want to go and how well matched all the parts are.

There are basically three places that can provide you with quakity parts.

On a 3.8 250 will be tough. going to a 4.2 you should be able to do it.
Be aware it will not be cheap. Buy the best parts you can afford, it will payoff in the long run.

you can make 250 n/a on a 6er, it just takes a bit of money and know how. Ive seen a few on here back in the days it was mainly a V6 site with 230/240hp still a 3.8L.

id go with a 4.2L and a really nice top end combo from any of the above mentioned vendors, it will be a very nice naturally aspirated combo, and later on if you decide to go forced induced, it will be that much better, though you will have to decide now on if you want naturally aspirated, nitrous, or blower grinds on your cams.

simply adding a SC or TC will not adversely affect the livespan of the motor unless you forget to change oil. Trying to run ungodly amounts of boost and/or not tuning the setup by a reputable tuner will. DarkShadow is running i believe 11psi ish on a turbo setup on his 3.8l with a stock motor/heads.

all kidding aside In the past I heard alot of hear-say about the high quality of RPM mustang
also almost bought the kit from supersix motorsports
don't know much about delk, but if its the same guys from TN, then I hear they do excellent dyno tuning
