My delima>wheel-hop at launch. Hoping for some good info from someone that's been there done that. I finally found the Fox I wanted a 1984 Gt Hatchback, will post some pics soon. The previous owner sawapped out the quad shock 7.5 3rd member for a two shock 8.8 Trac-loc out of a 1987 it has factory control arms on it now. From you pros I was wondering what would be the best modification (add) to go with to eleviate the hop. Should I replace both the upper and lower control arms for best results and bang for the buck which is best. Also in addition to performance control arms would you recomend a pinion snubber to be of help contoling the movement of the differential? Kind of a newb here and hoping to learn to groom my horse as I go from peeps in the know. Thanks for any ideas and help. Jack

New control arms would help you tremendously. As far as what brand and the pinion snubber, I really don't know man.

The upper control arms are not an issue. Leave them stock. They only affect movement of the rear from side to side. The lowers do all the real work.

For the lowers, I'd really recommend some Maximum Motorsports Drag LCAs. You can even get them to adjust rear ride height if you are running a taller tire.

If you are looking for something for more serious drag racing, look for some type of lift bar like the Southside Lowers.

Another thing to consider is your shocks and struts. If you have aftermarket shocks and struts designed more for handling, your ability to launch is really gonna suffer. The stockers aren't too bad though.

When I was setting up my suspension I bought my UCA/LCA setup from FactoryFive.com. They were running a special for $199.00. They are now $248. There's tons of those things out there but the FF work for me. They still have the urethane bushings for a decent ride but I can launch at 4K-5K on 10.5/15 Mickey Thompson slicks with no hop. So far my best 60' has been 1.59 on a 7.64 (1/8th) ET.

Before you beat on it too hard you may want to have your torque boxes welded. It doesn't take a lot of power to rip those things out and IMO it's a lot easier to strenghthen them rather than repair them.

Cudos on the neat web site Jim, and thnx much for the info. Cute doggies yep! I will weld in the tourqe box reinforcements upper & lower before I do the switch. Prolly will go with an adj. upper and fixed lower with the adj spring perch. I'll post pics of my Stang eventually when it's done.

go with maximummotorsports.com they are simply the best on the market. You spend a bit more but readup on them and you will see why. The only reason to go with a urathane bushing LCA would be if you simply only care about drag racing
