Hey guys I'm building one as we speak, was wondering if you care to share some of your combos, hp, and timeslips.

LOL, yeah I guess thats what happens when valves meet pistons! It tore out the whole cyclinder wall, snapped off both valves, crushed the piston, bent the rod, and chewed up that part of the cyclinder head up. I had pieces of the block and piston in my upper intake!

I hope to build a 408 one day, but it won't be until after I finish the '89. After that, I'm planning on putting a 408 in the '90.

I'd like to see at least mid-high 10's in it N/A. I'll probably go with EFI, the lightest rotating assembly I can find, AFR 205 heads, and a fairly mild custom FTI cam. 450+ rwhp and 500+ rwtq would be nice. I'd want something that's still going to be streetable. It's much more fun to drive to the track and beat all the trailer queens than it is to have to load up a trailer yourself.

That's a long way off in the future though, so I may totally change my mind by then.

I don't have a 408, but I do have a 399. Bennett super pro short block, 11:1, TEA Victor 395 heads, Custom Comp solid roller (.710 net valve lift), Super Victor 9.2 EFI conversion, SDS engine management with crank trigger timing setup, McLeod soft lok clutch and TKO 600 transmission.

It's kind of a weird combination. Based on NMRA hot street setups, but configured to run shootouts in Alberta where 91 octane pump gas, 30 mile prover cruises, and full DOT equipment are typically required. Shifts at 8000 RPM. Scares a lot of nitrous Chevys.

You can see it at Tecmotion - Race Program . You guys have to bear in mind that the typical track I am running at has a normal DA in the 6000 ft range. This car would be a LOT quicker at sea level tracks.
