This one is a bit more complicated than the previous ones. Due to the NFL utilizing a non-bracket tournament, we can't predict the entire playoffs from the get-go . So here's how it's going to play out:
Everybody picks winners for the first round of the playoffs. These will be worth a point a piece.
After the first round, when we know what the matchups for the second round will be, we'll pick the rest of the tourney. One point for picking a winner in the 2nd round, two points for picking a the conference champs, and four points for picking the Superbowl winner.
How does that sound?

Since it's the first round, and it doesn't impact future rounds...I'm going to go with every team I want to win...
Colts over Chiefs
Jets over Pats
Giants over Eagles
Seahawks over Cowboys

I'm organizing the office game... There are 9 people involved.
So I had them submit their picks, and have assigned each game to be worth 7560 points. The points will be divided between the people who correctly chose the game.
This is to allow for more points for upsets, or for people going against the general flow.
So the breakdown is like this.. in the Indy/ KC game, 7 chose Indy, 2 Chose KC.. so if Indy wins, each person who chose Indy gets 1080 points, while if KC wins, each person who chose KC gets 3780 points.
Everyone chose NE over NYJ. so that is not worth any points.
Philly / NY went 6 to 3, or 1260 points to 2520 points.
Sea / Dal went 5 to 4, or 1512 points to 1890 points.
I think I need to have some hypothetical rounds to make sure this works.. Anyone see any flaws with my technique?

It looks good to me, but running through the whole tournament a time or two to see how the points come out isn't a bad idea.
I've never thought about doing it that way. Let me know how it works out for you.

I had to chose 7560 because that number has factors of 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9.. I didn't want to end up with half points, or a third of apoint.. In my first hypothetical round of Indy, NE, Philly and Dallas winning the points seemed reasonable
But I think this method won't allow for people to be eliminated.. If all of their pics are bad, they still get to participate because each round would start over... I think I don't have time to think about all the possible permutations of outcomes....

Another method is how a season long pool worked back when I was in NY.
You pick your teams. You get:
1 point if they win.
1 point for a blowout ( > 20 point victory).
1 point for a shutout
A total of 3 possible points per game.

i guess it would depend on the amount of people who are in it. there are 4 rds in the playoffs, w/c, divisional, championships, superbowl. if you have more than 8 playing, cut the lowest two in each rd. point wise, just change the point totals to accomodate the amount in each rd. higher or lower is your choice.
