Alright, just to let you all know and before you shoot your flamethrowers at me, the title is a joke... well sorta
But just ran into this, figured you guys might want to keep tabs on this Heretic Project. Looks pretty badass in my opinion

The LS7 is physically the same size as all the rest of the LS blocks.

Was going to say the same. All the LSx motors are physically the same size. Displacement is where it differs.

Yeah, Even the new LSX is the same basic size and shape as the rest of the LS series.
The thing that would make this hard to fit is the Twin Turbos their using. I'm sure it could fit in a RX-7, but it would most likely be a pain in the ass.

If you read the "Sport Compact Car magazines ultimate car challenge" thing from last year someone had a RX7 with a LS7 in it and it did shitty. LS motors work better in Chebby than in Mazdas.

Well first, read the title of the magazine. Not gonna trust a source who thinks anything with 8 cylinders is "old technology". Also could have been the guy that put it in was an idiot, or didn't know how to drive it. I think just about any car that the LS7 fits in would be an improvement (besides a very select few cars). People talk about their weight, but they don't weigh much at all.
Also, the LS1 can sit farther back in the bay than the rotary, and makes it much better with handling. Check out the Weight differential in the link below. It's a bit more than 3/4's of the way down the page.

LS1, and under 500hp and 10 second passes is pretty good in my opinion.
If that car did bad, chances are someone messed up quite a bit

Don't get me wrong boss, I think the idea itself is very good. Take a very unreliabe motor out of a great chassis and take a great motor out of a crappy chassis(Save for a Vette) and mate the two.
Read this thread I posted several months back.
http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/t23833
The thing is everytime you read anything about the cars it always has a huge traction problem that they can't get fixed. I'm sure you can put some slicks on it and run some very fast times, but in every other sinero it seems like the car just wants to spin. If they can get the car to hooked up on the streets than I'm all for it. LS motors are awesome.
BTW I also have the magazine with the "Ultimate Street Car Challenge" article and will post it if you really what me to so you can read about the LS7 RX7.

Regarding that link you posted:
pretty good read, although they compare a base camaro with a few bolt on modifications to Race ready RX-7's with full suspension work.
Either way, it is a great improvement for those cars.
Also seems like all RWD imports have a traction problem when they have big power.

Agreed, the magazine is byiest. What I think is funny is how the Camaro kicked both their ass in braking and how the magazine was whining about it. They thing F-bodies and Mustangs can't do anything except accellerate fast.

theyre too light in the ass.
the LS1 RX7 up here in sacramento can come around a turn at around 30mph in 3rd gear and bury the throttle and throw the ass out like it was nothing, without taching many rpm's (around 2.2-2.5k). then again, the same car ran a 10.66 and its just the LS1 swap with the full onslaught of boltons save for headwork and headers, but he has to make the headers from scratch, i guess the off-the-shelf ones wont fit.
