cold air intake

hi, i recently buy a v6 3.8l 2001 with 38k on it. the car has a BBK cold air intake , i noticed that the intake has no filter, and i already order one, can this can damage the car?? what cn i do?? |

Hmm, yea thats bad.
Do you know if the owner took the filter off before selling it to you or did it simply fall off in to the fenderwell?
If they just took it off Im betting your fine but if it fell off without him/her knowing and was driven for awhile, especially on dusty roads or in the rain you may have a problem. Id get it checked out.
Don't drive it until you get a filter on. And get in touch with them and ask when the Intake was put on and if it was professionally installed or if they knew it was missing.

i dont know if he drive the car without a filter so much , but a noticed that the intake has a mark on it that appears that the intake had a filter, the car feels perfect , but what can i do, just put the filter on and drive? or what can i do? |

As far as what you can do you have a number of options. Definitley get a filter before you even start it. The last thing you need is to suck a leaf or small bird into your engine. 
1, get some money back on your purchase cause I would feel ripped off if I bought a car without a filter on it. Id also feel very uneasy about it.
2, take it to a shop and tell them you bought the car, discovered there was no filter, and that you want them to check it out and make sure its ok. I dunno what they will do, maybe check compression and pull the intakes to see any signs of dirt buildup on valves.
3, change the oil and put in some additive that A&A sells. Its in a silver can and its supposed to restore lost compression. I forgot the name.
Bout all you can do. It will be ok as long as it didnt suck too much dust and shit into the cylinders. That will mess any car up.

just curious, the car fells ok right now , is that a good signal that the car is okay? or dont mean nothing?? |

Could be some extra road grime/etc in the intake runners.. but if its fine for now... put a filter on it and hope for the best - it could/should be fine, but having no filter generally = bad

Just make sure to put some new plugs in afterward. I'd say it couldn't hurt.

At the shop we used BG products -> intake system cleaner... its sprayed into the throttle body with the car running
We also used it to clean up top engine parts when working on them, seemed to cut through the grime in the intakes really well
