95 to 96 help

Hi everyone. The reason for being here is simple. I need help with my grandson's 95 mustang. The 3.8 engine is bad. We have found a 96 3.8 but
no one can tell me if this is a straight swap.

Never actually done this, but I would assume if you're using the 95 wiring harness/accessories, the block/top end will swap into your car no problems, might be a few things you'd have to change out, I'll let someone who's done before chime in more on this

the only changes I know of between the 95 and 96 3.8L engine is headers~ they changed them and upped the power by like 5hp... thats all I can think of.

People are probably scared to tell you since the 5.0 changed to the 4.6 in 96 so they are probably figuring the base model changed to.

The K members are different in 95 to 96 so you may need the engine mounts from the 95 model to fit it in there as well~

Good news. The engine swap went just fine. SpectorV was on the money with the engine mounts. The headers were the same. Had to change the wiring and some sensors. The dist. or whatever you call that thing now was different. I took a chance and left the 96 dist. in place. Had to put the 96 plug on the 95 wiring. The engine runs good except for a hesitation on acceleration. The old engine had the same problem. The fault code says bank2 sys lean. We are working on this now.
