That's the point of the pic.
I can't tell you what's wrong with the quote, but I know it isn't a jet. Not many jets come with props.

I'd say if had 6 props(J or H model C130) it MIGHT have a turbo prop but still no jet engine, haha... But the 2 J models that we've gotten here just had beefed up motors and no turbo prop

C130J Hercules II
Additionally, beneath the engine cowls, there are newer, uprated, Rolls Royce Allison AE2100D3 Turboprop engines, driving modern, 6-bladed, carbon composite propellers. These engines are controlled by Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) units, which improve performance without compromising the high level of fuel efficiency. This fact leads one to notice the second most obvious difference to the external look of the aircraft other than the new propellers ...there are no external fuel tanks fitted. Again, the propeller blades are fully reversible, allowing the 'J' model to manoeuvre on the ground in the same manner as the 'K' model
from Royal Air Force Lyneham - The Hercules C130-J
Entered service in 1998, and uses a 6 bladed turbo prop.

yes a C-130J has 6 blades, but not 6 props. They have 4 6 bladed props...not very good props either. composite material is very weak. and all 130s have fully reversible props. That is why they can back up on their own. And also no H model has 6 blades, just the Js. All mine are H2s. And there is no MIGHT have a turbo prop, they all are turbo prop motors.
A Models had Allison T56 turbo props, Es got the Allison T56-A-7A turbo prop, Hs got T56-A-15 turboprops, and the Js Rolls-Royce Allison AE2100 turboprops with six-bladed composite propellers. Also the the Marines have a stretch J model. Also the thing that is appealing about the Js is the glass cockpit. However with Boeings AMP (Avionics Modernization Program) mod, Hs and eventually Es if still around will be getting glass cockpits. Aircraft 101, from my unit (908th AW, Maxwell AFB, AL), is currently being tested at Edwards AFB after recently being the first aircraft through the mod. They are currently working on the second. here is the link to the story of the first flight with a pic of it
Boeing: Boeing Flies C-130 AMP Aircraft for First Time
and the first thing wrong with the quote is it says jet. the C-130 has turbo props. second thing it wrong is it calls it an AC-130. That is not a gunship, it is an MC-130. still spec ops, but not a gunship. Notice nothing sticking out the side of the aircraft. That 105 is very noticble from a distance. also no bubble, or the other weapons which can be seen very well.
Here are AC-130s

notice the bubble
here are MC-130s no bubble or guns

i just think this is a cool one
bullit, you can try to bullshit the guys that dont know better. but be careful when talking out your ass, someone that might actually know what they are talking about might be around.
and just so i cant be accuses of bullshiting, pic of me changing a parking brake cable on a C-130E (fucking Dyess planes)

sunrise somehwere over Europe

B2 parked at the base I was deployed too

F-15 taking off while we were changing a flap gearbox

which if you dont know what a flap gearbox is, it is this thing

here is a pic of the wing of Acft 40 that was hit with a SAM in late 04. We were removing the vertical stabs leading edge when i snapped this pic

that was after we had to drop the flap so sheet metal could patch the hole.

My cousin flew AC-130's for years. Eventually he got old enough that he flies a desk, now. I've been reasonably obsessed with the planes since I was a little kid.

thanks brent, i live and breathe the C-130. I guess after just shy of 5 years of working on the aircraft you get that way. Also I might be cross training soon to become a C-130 Loadmaster.

Could you explain to me how/why you just tried to show me up on something? It's like you are acting like I've never been around airplanes and don't work around them. I'm at CAFB Transient Alert. Granted I don't physically work on the planes that come in, but I do know quite a bit about them. Sounds to me like you came in here just to show off with your chip on your shoulder.
I know C130's have backing up capabilities. I've marshalled several. So can C-17's. Big whoop. Can't figure out why you came in here so gungho..

P.S. Explain to me how I was "talking out of my ass" and "bullshitting guys that don't know any better." The only thing I posted "incorrectly" was that I called a prop a blade. Sue me. Everything else was correct as far as I know.

well you also stated this wrong. "I's say if had 6 props (J or H model C-130)" so you still made the mistake of saying an H model has 6 "blades"
Then you said "it MIGHT have a turbo prop...but the 2 J models that we've gotten here just had beefed up motors and no turbo prop" so you made the mistake of saying 130s dont have turbo props, which in fact they do.
I was not trying to "show" you up. You posted acting all big and bad with your "knowledadge," especially like that comment when Taywi corrected you and said C-130s only have 4 props, your reply "Would you like to put money on that, sir?" So you want to act like you are a know it all to these guys. Well I just spoke up since I actually know about C-130s and corrected you. So dont get all upset cause I called you out on all your incorrect information, when you tried to act like a bad ass...now you got your tail between your legs and trying to make me look like an ass.
and the only reason I mentioned anything about the reversible props is the article you posted was talking about it and said "alowing the "J" model to back up." just letting everyone know all models of C-130s have the same ability. Yeah, ive seen C-17s back up. Seen them do it numerous times in the desert. C-17 was suppose to be the replacement of the C-130 so it had to have all the capabilities of a C-130....but the C-130 has way too many uses to be replaced. And they are extending the life of them at least another 50 years currently.
So to conclude this. You were talking out your ass spewing incorrect information, and even in your defense against what I said was incorrect. I pointed out all your incorrect "facts" and you still got it wrong.

Let me see if I can find the quick vid I made when in one. cant really see anything, but you can hear everything.
until then here are some pics, when looking at them imagine in your head a really loud humming noise since the planes have no real noise dampering for the occupants. Always have to wear hearing protection when the engines are running.
these were all from when we were flying between Spain and Crete on the way to the Desert. We couldnt be in uniform when we got to Crete since we were going downtown there, and policy for that place was no uniform off base so that is why everyone is in civis...changing in mid air.

notice the guy sleeping on the pallet...i did that the whole way from Crete to the Desert...oh my head was hurting...Crete has some very nice bars

I wasn't "talking out of my" ass. Sounds more to me like you were looking to correct somebody and show off what YOU do for a living, as seen by all your random pics. Like I said I don't work on them, but are around them quite often. Never said I knew them inside and out. You could have just corrected me and went on, instead of going off on how you work on them and this and that, and here's a picture to prove it.....
Yeah, my tail is tucked , it's the internet. Laddy phuckin dah. The whole "would you like to put money on that part was more of a joke" than anything and I don't come off as "acting like I know so much." Just because you went through basic doesn't make you any better than me. It means you chose a career, of which I still respect greatly, but no thanks to people like you who walk around with a chip on their shoulder.
