Queston about x-pipe\cold air intake etc

I have a 1999 mustang v6 3.8l. i wanna know if i put an x-pipe/cold air intake, how will my car benefit from it?

p.s. if i get flowmasters along with headers, will it get me closer to a gt roar?

headers are pretty much worthless on the 3.8L until you start pushing over 300rwhp/tq so dont waste your money at the moment, longtubes will be the best bet when you do add them also.

For an x-pipe it once again wont do much of anything, maybe 5hp maybe, probably less and it will make your car sound like crap and you will feel some loss in bottom end torque depending on pipe size.

For the CAI you should expect 5rwhp/3rwtq and barly be able to feel it~ they are mainly for looks.

If you are looking to sound like a GT it wont happen, probably the best exhaust option for the v6 is dual exhaust with 2.25 inch pipe (cutting off the Y pipe and running true duals and no H pipe (balancer pipe) is needed on the 3.8L engine) and running some mellow tone mufflers (nothing super free flow)

not to discourage you just the facts, you can do rear gears/tlok for the best bang for the buck and a tma turbo will put you in the mid/high 300rwhp range (not bad at all for 4k~)

i did, cai, flowmaster weld-in, 4.10 gears, t-lok and basic flash tune to my 03 v6 auto. i did notice a small increase in throttle response from the cai, (BBK btw) and a very nice almost GT-like exhaust note from the flowmaster. the best thing you can do, is the 4.10 gears if you are auto. while you are in the rear end, you definitly need to put in the t-lok. and since you will need a speedo recalibration, get a base, if custom tune. after all that stuff, i was able to spin the tires for a few feet, by goin wot right off the bat, and chirp 2nd when it shifted. by the time i was done with those stage 1 bolt-ons, it felt like a different car. sry for the run-on sentances, its just how i type in thought.
