It could potentially set some 'improper battery voltage' codes but chances are it'll light up ABS/volts light before it affects anything engine wise.. (if its dying but not dead yet.._

how low is the engine revving down to? if its almost down to a stall, could be an IAC or mass air issue, not enough volts with key on (IE low RPMs ) = volts light... and bad circuit on anything that would affect idle... would trip the check engine light, or could even be random misfire codes...

possible that its your battery, yes... could be a failing alternator, too... alternator drops output suddenly, your RPMs will drop as the car starts to run off battery only then compensates...

Where are you located? If you are anywhere near an Auto Zone or similar auto parts store they can check both your battery and alternator to see if either one of those are your problem. Around here they don't charge for either one.
Might be cheaper than having to buy a battery if that isn't the problem in the end.
