Are there any how to's floating around the net that can help me out? I'm paying a friend of mine with pizza if he'll help me install my clutch. He's done it several times but not on a 99 cobra.
He's confident in himself but I want to make sure I don't overlook anything and that i do it 100% right. there always seems to be something small that can and will go wrong...thanks for any input

It's no different than installing a clutch in a 99 GT. Same tranny, same style clutch, just an 11 inch as opposed to a 10.5(GT), and should also have an 8 bolt crank just like the Windsor blocks did(99-00ish GTs). Make sure you clean the disk and plate with brake cleaner COMPLETELY before installed and triple check your clutch alignment. Also, make sure that the two marks(one on the drive shaft and the other where it connects to the differential) line up when you reinstall. Not sure if the DS is balanced or not, but if it is make sure those marks line up. Also, be careful when you reinstall the DS as to not damage the seal or you will have an annoying leak. Another hint is to jack up the front of the motor to ease the reinstallation of the tranny/bellhousing to the motor.

ok so i have my clutch kit and am almost ready to install it one of these weekends. I need to know 2 things still....
How much tranny fluid will i need?
And what kind of gaskets do I need to get for when I take the exhaust off? It looks like the front cats will be in the way, so I'm gonna drop them but I cant remember if it's a ball/socket connection or what.

if you dont have the ability to tq every bolt to specification get a tq wrench and do so. If you dont tighten the bolts enough or you do to much you can have issues.
You had best replace the pilot bearing, throw out, and all that good stuff while you are in there and also check the bearing retainer sleeve (what the throw out slides on) and replace with a steel one if its scuffed.

werd, a proper torque wrench is a 40$ tool that will save your ass more than once, and is an investment you will use for years to come. but dont take my advice, i still just use german torque specs (Gudenteit).

Does anyone have a complete list of torque specs I'll need to change out a clutch? All I could find at school on All Data was the spec for the flywheel bolts which are only like 33 ftlb...
For tranny fluid it said I need 2.6L of it and add 2 ounces of friction modifier. Does that sound right?

Friction modifier? I thought these trannys took ATF and you only needed to add friction modifier to posi rears.

Yeah, I've never heard of adding friction modifier to a T5 or T45 either. They take ATF.
