ok, so i found a guy on svtp that has a shop near my house. so, in lookin for a good shop to do my exhaust n gear install, i asked him about his shop. all quotes are word for word, no changes.
this is what i said:
hey, just saw that you were from allentown. we dont have many lightnings around our area so its nice to see a sick looking one like yours. just wanted to see if you knew of any get hang out spots or clubs in our area.
he said:
usually at my shop and dyno where i tune them. I tuned one of the quickest 03 cobras on here with the stock eaton ran 10.99 before he ported the blower. I have a borla cat back for a lightning for sale if you want it i took it off a truck with 5k on it.
i said:
good work on that cobra! i wish i had a L, but i have an 04 GT. what kinda of work do you do in your shop? i will be getting a set of lt headers, full exhaust system and gears. so i will be looking for a good shop in the near future, as soon as the cash is there. where is your shop btw?
he said:
Next to drivers lisence center by bj's airport road. I install saleen blowers that what i have on my gt. Oh and the exhaust is going to do what for your car? does it have a blower on it. My gt stock cat back stock manifolds stock sock stock drop in kn filter 373's dr's and high flow cats thats it went 13.2 @101mph with the saleen blower and same exhaust set up 11.9 116mph . Gt's are different exhaust do not really do a thing. oneqkgt@aol.com
like, what do i say to that? its like...uhhh....yea.... guess you dont want the money that i will be paying you to install all that bs stuff, huh?

I don't really see it running 13.2@101 with just high flow cats
unless maybe he did a 5 k RPM dump on slicks and powershifted the crap out of it... then MAYBE in the right area... but that's a big big big maybe...

i think he is implying there really isnt a gain, which is mostly true. the gain you get from a catback would be the grin on your face from the newfound exhaust note.
and i doubt he went 13.2 as well.

no, he is trying to up-sell you, bu enticing you with what a supercharger can do instead of bolt-ons. if you had 5k laying around and were gullible, he would easily make a sale.

I think he might could have managed a 13.2 with 3.73's and drag radials. His trap speed wasn't all that fast, but IDK a 13.2 is pretty damn fast for a mostly stock GT.
Tell him that you heard a good catback will add 50+hp too your car, and that a CAI will add another 30-or-so hp, and then say that you think it should be a 10 second car with these mods. That would be funny, especially if you keep arguing the point with him.

10.99 on a stock eaton?
I would say no...gut feeling since he was more interested in selling you shit instead of answering your hang out question. That and the added fact that his numbers seem a bit stretchy...
