okay after further research--
it can be done BUT it most states, its illegal, so it may not be worth it. you just have to leave the car in gear so that it would start, but its not a good idea.

In gear? How is it going to start with the car in gear and the clutch not depressed? or is there some mechanism that disengages the clutch without depressing the clutch pedal?

not sure, i called around to a couple of my friends that have it and asked them what they do. i think at night instead of putting it into neutral, they just leave it in first with the ebrake on. then when you go to the remote start it tricks the car to thinking its in gear.

There would be no tricking needed since if it is in first, it is, in fact, in gear.
I did a quick search and the 1 quick thing I found said you can't leave it in gear as it would quickly jump forward...you would need to leave it in N with the e-brake on. Then, there is a relay that would trick the car into thinking the clutch was depressed.
This is no in depth research...but it did also state that it is illegal in most states to install it on a manual like you said.

As a previous ford mechanic, who used to install 'factory' remote start systems..
1) It is illegal to install remote start on a manual trans car
2) if you DO install it on a manual trans car, make sure you use neutral all the time, and that your ebrake is strong enough to hold the car
3) to install it they bypass the clutch pedal position switch, which would normally need to be activated to start a vehicle...

im with monte you can install it. It is illegal and if you leave it in gear and try to start it for your friends they get a great laugh watching it jump into a wall (like i got to see personally) But i know many people who have done it.
