Just thought we could discuss the different rotors and their advantages. I personally went with only cross drilled rotors on all four corners, because from reading about the slotted ones, it seems those slots actually act as a blade on your brake pads and will decrease pad life. On top of that, the holes in cross drilled rotors that vent the heat to the middle vents of the rotors will clear that heat MUCH faster and more efficiently than any tiny slot will.
Different rotors fit lots of different applications. Some say to just use a flat non drilled/slotted rotor for road racing since the excess heat tends to cause cracking around the drilled holes.
Theres lots of different brands of these rotors and for everyday driving without much brake stress, a cheaper ebay alternative is perfectly fine to use without worrying about quality issues. There are also plenty of higher cost brands out there such as "Powerslot", "Brembo", "Baer", and many others.
If anyone has anything to add, put it here!

One rumor about the cross drilled rotors is cracking issues. The cheaper brands that don't use a thicker rotor tend to crack due to the holes in the rotor.
Cross drilled does vent the gas and dissipate heat much better than the slots. However, slots do ensure no glazing much better than the holes do. They do somewhat act as a razor shaving the pad when you use it, however, it isn't as drastic as it sounds. It is kind like when you shave, it takes the stuff off the surface, but doesn't dig in...just like a razor would just remove the hair and not take any skin/meat with it.
I think the best design is the mix of cross drilled and slotted rotors. You get both benefits.
One thing to keep in mind about cross drilled rotors though. If you are pretty much just using them for street use, they are fine. However, if you are using them for auto cross or other type of high brake use racing...you will want to make sure you get a very good set that is designed to handle the heat cycles. If you go with the general brand, OEM replacement style cross drilled rotors, they will fail eventually in a race.

Only cross drilled:
Cross drilled and slotted:
Slotted only:

It also depends how the slots and holes are made into the metal. Cracking is much more promenant when the holes are drilled and the slots are as well. Cheaper made rotors crack when abused. My 2001 Mustang had cross drilled and slotted rotors and they never cracked but they sure warped very fast and I never abused them, only normal driving. I probably got 20k out of them~
When the rotors are formed with the slots and holes in them already they are much stronger.
The reason you see these rotors on high dollar cars is for looks and the fact that they are much larger so they can handle the work load.
When you remove the material from the rotors you remove strength, major gas buildup is a think of the past, sure some does but not a ton.

It crossed my mind.
So in other words, if your going to get drilled rotors, make sure to get the good thick ones from the major companies and not the replacements from Autozone or other distributors?

not necessarily.... it depends on your application. If you're racing, spend the money on good ones. If not... ebay is your friend.

As is the case of many things aftermarket. It really is a shame sometimes that you have to learn the hard way.
Ie hoods and bumpers.....
