Cam only my ass

Apparently "Cam only" means they have a aftermarket camshaft with the factory heads, in LS1 lingo. Sounds like false advertisement to me. I guareentee that it will that much more than a cam to do this. I rode in a fellows 05 GTO a few weeks ago and my car was noticably faster and he had a lumpy cam in it, with a catback, x-pipe, and Kooks LT's, along with a few other boltons. It was still a very nice car, but I'm just saying that a cam on Camaro is not going to beat a pulleyed Terminator.

The cobra at 12lbs is what 440? i don't know is why i ask.The camaro with a pretty aggressive cam and bolt-ons including long tubes is a easy 440-450 car so yeah its possible plus why would you buy slicks and skinny's if you could only run 12's?

so you are saying a stock LS1 engine can go from 315rwhp/tq to 450 with a cam.

A good tune with the the other bolt ons (cat back, CAI, possibly mid pipe) would get you up to about the 450 mark...at least, that is where I am right now running about 12-13 psi (my 3.1 upper is 3.5-4.5 lbs over stock which is claimed to be 8 psi, but I peg the guage @ 10 psi stock).

None the less, I didn't see the vid yet. A cammed camaro could beat someone that can't drive...hell, I was beaten by someone with 120 less hp than me because I couldn't grab the road at all through 1, 2, or 3rd and pulled his doors off going by when the tires finally grabbed in 4th...

Not so sure a cam is going to give 120+ more rwhp though.

Texas Speed claims that you can see 60-80 horse out of their MS4 cam. On an otherwise stock LS1 f-body, that could get you real close to 400 at the wheels.

you guys would be suprised what a cam can do on those cars..........h/c/i and exhaust and the car is deep into the 11s, with a good tune

A lot of the LS1/LT1 guys we run with down here mean cam only as, "Well you can't use too much of an aggressive cam with the stock valvesprings, and if you use bigger valvesprings you have to have better heads to take full advange of it, and if you have that you need exhaust, with the better exhaust you need an intake, with the more power you need better driveline parts, and since you have that you put nitrous car......etc." All depends on who you talk to. Just like a built motor with a turbo is still a bolt on car since you have to use "bolts" to put it together...

I agree 100% this whole thread is over the camaro guy not saying " i have long tubes,a lid ,gears,a ls6 intake" etc just because he said cam only means that is his only major power adder maybe? no nitrous no turbo no blower

Sh it, anything is a power adder on a dam LS1. You could put a JE Pistons sticker on the valve cover and it picks up some power... Dam I wish Ford would have stuck with the 351W......

Also the 03/04 cobra cant hook up as hard as they can so we are much more worthless down low

There's no telling. It could be the drivers, or it could be the Cobra's tune, or it could just be the Camaro is making more power. Those videos don't really tell you much.

Craig, the title of this thread brought back memories from last summer when a certain couple of people started coming out with their cars lol.
