Its a twin screw blower and I imagen it is made more for the track than the street. I have read that if your running anything less than 25#s of boost you have to get an aftermarket hood to clear it. It apparently takes a good bit of power to spin it from what I've read. I imagen a W140AX would be the better Whipplecharger to get for street use, but IDK.

im sure youd need an aftermarket hood anyways, that blower looks massive.
of course, being a bigger beast its meant for a bigger application. just bolting it on without any support and trying to run the same amount of boost as a 140ax is going to give you less than desireable results. it would be like me trying to slam a 60trim into a stock dsm and running 8psi because i dont have the support to run it, it wouldnt be nearly as if i ran the correct turbo for my goals with the correct support. i think too many times people just buy the biggest part thinking it will net the biggest gain, but thats not always the case, as you first need realistic goals and need to use parts suited for those goals for the most efficient combo.

You can get this blower as an upgrade for the Ford GT. Its pretty damn expensive though. I wonder how much it will cost for the Cobra.

Yes it will bolt on to a cobra...it takes a special adapter plate that whipple is not making, but lethal is.
It is useless for a stock block motor because it moves more air than the motor can take in so you see no gains from it over the 2.3L really. Just like the KB 2.8L is too much for a stock block...it requires a stroked motor.
There are a few guys running it...but they have a 302 and a 324 I believe...so they are all set for it.
None the less, it is way over kill.

I bet it will probably make a ton of power on the GT500's. Look at what the KB 2.8 did for them.

I wasn't hating on the GT500, I was giving it a complement. You must be doing some drinking Mr. Zim. :zim:

The GT500 does suck. Is over rated. This will make some good power on there just like it does on the GT. And the terminator does own the GT500 in all areas.
There, now I gave you what you were fishing for and trying to instigate.
Begin GT500 vs Terminator debate now...

putting a blower thats to big is like putting a 5,000 shot of Nitrous on a car that can only take 100 (not a perfect comparison but what ever) its just not a good idea.

This is irrelevant. We are supposed to start debating the superiority of the terminator over the GT500 or vice versa now. So, please do not stick to topic from this point forward.

I believe that at the end of the day the GT500 is a step up from the terminator, even though the terminator does a few things better. Just an overall average of the vehicle. If ford would have invested a bit more though and care into a few areas it would have been much nicer, but oh well... maybe they will do some of this in the years to come of production. I guess they knew the price would jump up to nearly 50k if they kept doing this and that so they had to cut corners and do things that people wouldnt like... but... probably 80% of them sold go to people who dont have a clue and assume 500hp = all they care about and they wont really race it. I used 80% due to more GT500 owners will care about performance than GT or V6 drivers.

That is purely based on preference. Technically, the 2.2L KB produces a bit more HP and TQ than the comparably sized 2.3L whipple at the same boost levels.
However, the new KB's being 2.6 and 2.8L are starting to get a bit big for the 4.6 block in its stock form. However, the 2.8 is perfect for a bored/stroked/headers/ported heads type of 4.6L block.
This over sizing is swaying things back over to the 2.3L whipple side ever so slightly.

From my understanding the KB's also produce lower temps but IDK. I know that everybody thinks KB's sound cool, but I think they sound like shit.

who says the motor can handle 700? some go at stock levels some go at 900... no one knows that for 100%. I would start to worry if I was above 550rwhp/tq

i would start to worry around the 550-600 mark as well, at that point i would pay close attention to the tune and who is doing it, probably make sure im on the more conservative side of things. id make the tuner find the edge of course, then for longevity and safety's sake, either pull a degree or two of timing, or richen it up a bit.

People run 600rwph all day long on these motors... The record for a stock cobra block is something like 1300hp... 700hp no sweat!

thats not really spector's point...what he is trying to say is that no two motoros are exactly the same...the material properties, the assembly procedures, etc, are all just a tad bit different...enough that when you get up into really high power ranges, you start to get "unsafe"...while one cobra motor may be able to handle 1300 hp as you said for some uknown length of time, another one may blow up and 900 while yet another may blow up at 600...spector is merely stating that once you get above that 550 hp limit, your likelyhood of blowing up will go up exponentially the further above 1300 you go...not to get into statistics, but every motor has some limit in that...you have deviations and variance in motor building, some mootors limit will be 1300 while another may only be 500 or 600...but once you reach that lower known limit, 550ish, you have to start watching out and prepare for the worst...which is what spector was saying...not that a cobra motor WILL blow up past 550, but that you should start watching for it because the higher you go, the more likely it will happen...

Hey, be nice...he is just upset because he blew both head gaskets on his cobra...
But yeah, the block is good for a long time....the only thing that needs attention is the pistons around the 550-600 rwhp mark...otherwise the motor could hand a good bit more without being torn into.

I have only heard of one maybe two motor failures that weren't do to the pistons. As you have said the pistons are the weakest link and when a Terminators motor blows its almost alway the pistons them from my understanding.

its usually the piston to wall clearance that kills the motor, due to the expansion rate of the stock pistons. reasons why on the stock r/a people advise against long term runs (ie top speed runs), things heat up and over a period longer than your average 2-3rd gear jaunt, can cause problems.
