I was checking on an email I received at Snopes and stumbled on
this page in the process. Here's the text:
On 26 March 2003, a mural showing an airplane crashing into one of two tall vertical buildings and setting it aflame (while a second airplane approaches the other building) was discovered by U.S. Marines searching Iraqi military headquarters in Nasiriya. The plane in this cheerily-hued painting bears the logo and color scheme of Iraqi Airlines.
They do say that they have been unable to determine whether the mural was painted before or after 9/11/01 but in either case it clearly shows the Iraqi Military was in support of the attacks on the WTC. That makes the Iraqi government an enemy of the U.S. This country has historically fought wars offensively by taking the war to our enemy's home rather than wait for them to invade us, this is another example of that.
I don't claim to be a war planner, perhaps things could have been done differently with better results than we have seen, but the fact remains that Sadaam and his military held deep hostilities toward us and had to be stopped. We left Iraq once before without completing the job and Sadaam was able to strengthen his military in the process. We must, in my opinion, stay until an agency is in place that is capable of self governing and protection.
