question about surround sound system

I got this TV and home theatre system, but the surround sound from it only works while playing DVD's... anyone have any ideas? Here's a pic of the set up.

Black FR500's, Eibach Pro-Kit, Bilstein shocks/struts, Borla Exhaust, Cold Air Intake,

you will have to have outs from the tv into the surround head unit so it can play when in TV mode

is the audio out going into one of the auxillery ports on the home theatre?

make sure its audio out from the TV not audio in and make sure its audionot just component or S video etc
