Best tire size for 18x7.5 rim?

I don't really care for really wide tires, unlike most on here lol. So what is the safest, tallest, thinnest rim I can put on these? I've been using some tire size calculators and it seems the tallest I can go is a 45, but that still doesn't seem enough to properly protect my rims. And some websites say I can use a 245, others say the max is a 235, so I'm thinking 225 or 215?

What kind of 18" rim do you have that is only 7.5" wide?

I don't see why you'd go to a wheel size that's SMALLER than a stock 17 inch mustang wheel. 17 x 9's and 17 x 11's staggered FTW

Aren't stock V6 rims 7.5" rims? If so, the FAQ addresses that size. the 18 part doesn't matter when figuring width and sidewall height.

with 18's, you aren't going to be able to protect them with sidewall height..you can't have them tall enough to make the rim higher than the curb without modifications. You protect them using the width of the tire...so if you're looking to put the smallest width that can fit on there, your rims are going to get rashed out the wazoo unless you stay faaar away from curbs. Honestly i'd recommend CORRECTLY sized tires, not too small..and in your case, not too big.

My stock 15's are only 7".......so what is not too big and not too small??
