Just bought a 96 3.8 for 1000 bucks, but the head gaskets are blown,,, This is my first new stang,(I have a 65, 68, and 69) how hard is it, I am used to carbs, so all the fuel Injection/computer stuff slightly intimadates me, otherwise it is straight forward right!!!, I spent the day reading the Chiltons manual, but would loike to hear your opinions!!! Thanks. Adam
Take it from me, never having gone into an engine past the throttle body before.
I installed heads and a cam on mine with the knowledge and help of this website as well as the Haynes manual.
The hardest part is prepping all the gasket surfaces, besides that, if you keep all the wires labeled and vacuum lines right, it really isn't as tough as you'd think.
cool, i will definatly get this done, is there a performance parts web sight , maye i will trick out my little six!!!!!
Yes check these sites out. And while you are changing the head gaskets go ahead and get the MLS (Multi Layer Steel) gaskets. They are a little more but they will last longer in the end esp. if you are planning to do more performance mods. And use the copper head gasket spray on both sides and you wont have any more problems
