found my starting problem. Yesterday I took the starter out. Sounded like the gear wasn't being thrown out enough and grinding on the flywheel. Took it to the parts house and had it tested. Just fine. Inspected the flywheel. A bit of evidence of it rubbing on the face, but nothing bad. Even the starter gear looked fine. I discovered the problem when I went to start it for Jeremy for an exhaust sound clip that the battery was dead. Was trying to jump it.
Well after playing with it some and even trying to start it by jumping the solenoid, it was turning the fly wheel, but barely. So went back to Oreilly's and came back to the house with a new part.
Out with the old almost 4 year old battery

in with the new el cheapo 50 buck one...my favorites

one day ill fix my hold down method, but it has worked since Nov of 03.
here is a vid of it running, with a focus on the exhaust for you Jeremy. Didnt do much just a little bit of idle with a couple revs close to WOT
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300022.avi
Well the truck hadnt been started since I moved into the new place at the end of Oct of 06. It was jumped off, drove from one house to the other and parked...there it sat. So of course in my fit of joy, I steal some of Chris' top bolts since mine are missing, bolt my top down and take off
I hit up my buddies house and we took off.
Now before anyone says anything. Yes there is a construction site behind me. I did not enter it, and where I was at, was legit thanks to a buddy of mine. [/disclaimer]
flexed it out a little
had to go through this mudhole to get to where I was...

it is amazing what 3 extra inches in tires will do for you, Chris was bottomed out in this pic.
then I started playing in the mud some
and since the guy taking pics was standing so far back, here is a closer one of the little mud pit with Chris' rig.

When I was going through it wasn't as wide, but it was nice and deep and very thick.

and a vid of one of my passes...you can tell that mud was nice and cold
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300028.avi
here is another vid of us messing around and a couple little hills. I was coming down here, was trying to get a bit of air on them
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/4...e/s4300032.avi
but doing all that I had a bit of a casualty, can you tell?
I guess I need to get out there and fix and finish my snorkel project I started that one hose clamp and sheet metal screw didnt hold it very well.
Ok that is all, just wanted to share my joy of finally driving it in almost half a year.

I should have a truck either late this week or early next week, it's got 31's so I'll be the weak point in the expedition, but I'm up for it.
