looks like there is a main laserbeam projector that picks up where the other smaller laser pointer hits the building and follows it, kinda like laser guided bombs/missles, the aircraft shoots a laser on the target that the missle homes into.

my first instinct i thought the main projector was able to read the movements of the smaller pointer pen, but then i saw the end where he had the pen aimed at the guys head.

Well maybe youre right, because they had the main pen aimed at his head, maybe the projector was tracing the movement and projecting it onto the building or something? Like, you dont have to aim the smaller pointer at the exact area the larger one is focused on. If it's like a projector, it'll just read it and shoot it, or am I not making any sense?

well it looked like they were writing on the building from their point of view, which the tracker wouldve picked up and the main laser would translate it directly. so basically yes, you have to "write" on the surface you want the main laser to write on as well.

Unless the main laser has parameters that are setup which it knows it can only shoot a beam within those parameters (basically the dimensions of the building with the distance of the main projector from the building so it can compute where its parameter lines are), in which case you could use the laser pen and "Write" on anything, the side of the van, the concrete under you, etc. and it would translate it directly into the building. but then, there would be no reason the pen in your hand had to be a laser pen at all, it could be a normal pen with some sort of tracker on it that picked up the movements and translated them into the main projector.

but seeing the pen is a laser, and its shot at the building which then the main projector writes on, means there is some sort of tracker that picks up the lasers "dot" on the building and follows it with its own main beam.
