Ok, so what do you guys think about this:
1967 Ford F100
Drop in a poked and stroked 5.0, slap on a KB, (OR, drop in a built 351 with a 8-71 sittin on top) T-56, 9 inch rear, nice suspension build up, drop it down a bit, better tires (drag radials maybe) on steele rims, and paint it flat black.
The chop is not so great, but I did my best
I think it would make an awesome parts hauler/sleeper truck. So much fun

I've never understood the point of making a truck fast. They are at an immediate disadvantage. It'll require some major rear suspension work to ever hook.

I actually worked on one of those last year, guy had a 460 ready for it. We did a body drop on the drop of 3 inches. Thing is nice but its a heavy pig for sure (wasnt fun removing the cab off to do a new floor for it)

You need to talk to my buddy Newman. He's got a '68 C10 with a solid-roller 383 and a 4L80E auto tranny. It was totally bad-ass on the 150 shot, 'til he backfired through the intake at Huntsville. He's been working on getting it running right, again. I haven't seen it in a while, but I think he's been making progress.

I know its a "pig" I know its "heavy" but its not all about going fast and winning. Sure, I want it to be fast, but its not like I would be racing something like this for real. I just think it would be something fun to have. I love trucks, and the thought of making one that can rip up the pavement and beat a few cars on the way, just makes me warm and fuzzy

I remember you telling me about that. Once it gets running I gotta see it, I love C-10s.

If you are not going to race it, then a blown 351 is absolute overkill. Throw a nice strong H/C/I 302 in there. It'll be more power than you'll ever really be able to use.
My point wasn't that trucks can't be made fast. Of course they can. I saw one around here run a 5.60 1/8th mile. However, if the same money was put into a car, it would probably run a 5 flat. I guess I've just never understood the whole "be different just to be different" thing. Isn't that just as bad as doing what everyone else is doing just to be doing what everyone else is doing???
