Well sorta. Didn't get my weekend goals accomplished but other things came up, some good.
First off, it was like Christmas..I "got" presents. Chris decided to pick up a few tools that will be handy, and are stored at my house since I have the garage.
Its a cheapo, but hey it will do the job as someone stated....forgot the thread for the sliders

and it beats this piece of shit

Still haven't found something that it will actually weld. it tack welded some aluminum as long as you didnt breathe on it. Also Chris got a 20 gallon parts washer. Should be handy for the build of his 400.
Also means I can finish this

I finally got these out of the back of Dana's old truck...Grabbed them as we were cleaning out the truck to get send it to a family friends of Dana's that owns a shop to pull the brand new transmission, tonnue cover and any other salvagable parts that can be sold before it goes to the junkyard since its totaled now. But hey, i got them back. And after 2 years, still not mounted on my truck.
Then over the weekend I snapped a pic of the table after the first coat of stain in daylight

here is tonights progress, 2 coats of stain total. Last coat on saturday, and tonight 1 coat polyurethane applied tonight. it is still wet

I just pray that after i sand it with a nice fine sandpaper and put the second coat of poly on, that when it dries it looks like that. I think it looks great, but I have noticed on this project, everytime it dries I am dissapointed with a couple missed spots.
But soon as the second coat dries it will be time to get back on the chairs. I am tempted to take them to the sandblasting place that is 3/10ths of a mile from my house and say hey...wanna do some chairs. worked on one for a few minutes today and I was already getting frustrated. Im really thinking maybe I shouldn't have tried to be cheap and think I would have a fun project.
Ok that is all. next update after some welding and or the table is done.

What is that a bumper bar or something?
Does that welder have a shielding gas system or what. Seems wierd it wouldn't tack unless you made sure to not breath on it.
IOf not I guess maybe wrong kind of wire. Flux cored or solid?

its a stick welder, no gas. Basically yeah it is flux core. Nice cause it isnt as picky as MIG or TIG on metal prep, however it isnt as easy as MIG to learn.
and yes, it is a bumper for the rear of my bronco. I have had it a little over 2 years. The guy that made it, made the brackets just a little too short. I am not gonna complain though cause he built it for the price of the metal and shipping, and I am/was not about to pay the price to ship it back to Oregon cause I felt the brackets where just slightly too short. If you were to drill the holes in the bumper to where they are in the frame for the stock bumper, to the same size, it would go off the edge.

MIG/TIG > Fluxcore
I hate that fluxcore crap cause its just that you want crap you use a fluxcore i swear never again (if you havent guess had a very bad experience with using fluxcore)
Either way good deal

works great, strong welds, less picky surface prep, no expensive gas, easier to get the welds in difficult places (great for us 4x4 guys), and a buttload cheaper. plus not my money. so its all good.
one day ill get me that nice MIG

Yes I just started on GMAW and MIG welding here at my school and I must say it is loads easier than oxy fuel or TIG welding! But that could also be because I have prior experience with it..

No I plan to use my newfound knowledge to get a job at Airproducts this summer. They have a large factory 15 minutes away from me and my Dad is their sales rep for anything to do with welding or gases.
I can get myself an interview and show my stuff, if I do well and need little training he said he can get me a $15/hour welding job just running beads for 7 hours a day. I can deal with that for that kind of pay, plus paid lunch and breaks as well as the perk of my dad knowing my boss why the hell not?

i would love a 15 an hour job. 12.36 an hour is amazingly not very much when you look at your bills. guess that is why I have a minimum of 20 hours of overtime on each pay check
