Went back to the drag strip last night. Set a new personal best. Here's the slips:

I'm in the right lane on the first run, and the left lane on the second.
Since this thread would be worthless without video, here you go:

I like the 1/8th mile tracks. A race is usually decided in the first 660 ft. anyway.

They had a Sunday TnT last weekend, but I was out of town. They usually shut it down sometime in November.

Yeah, some cars are built for the 1000' mark up. Although if they're similar cars or full built cars chances are the first 200' is all you need to see the winner barring some dysfunction

I have to disagree. There is more room in the 1/4 for cars to come back and let hp be the deciding factor. In the 1/8th, it is more about 60' and driver. 1/8th is all we have locally and I'd definately take that over nothing. I'm not driving 3 hours every weekend to go race a 1/4.
I'd say 1/8th is more challenging the the 1/4. I guarantee you that's where you'll learn to drive the most. Any mistake you make in the 1/8 will reflect a lot more on your time than in the 1/4. I like both and will take either when I get my hand on them.
Nice times! Where are you located? we should run 'em sometime.

I guess it is... my take on 1/8th mile though... all the stress of launching for a 1/4 mile but half the fun ... I'm just lucky there's 2 1/4 mile tracks within 45 minutes of me!

the only reason we have 1/8th mile tracks is price.... and ... price and they get more people going as it takes less time.

Not true, a major reason for 1/8 mile tracks is safety and insurance. According to insurance liability, less damage can be dealt in form of both physical harm and bodily harm on an 1/8 mile track than a 1/4. I've heard here recently that a local track went 1/8 only after having a death on a 1/4 run. No real reason to it besides outrageous liability rates.

^^ price is not just measured in the initial amount needed to build the track. There is a ton of prep that has to be done when you build the track... its not just road they have to do all kind of crap that you wouldnt think of and insurance is definatly up there.
