I would look into getting them powder coated instead of painted. It will be much more durable. Off the top of my head, I think it will be somewhere around $30 a wheel or something like that...at least that is what I was quoted few years ago when I was thinking of doing my steedas white.

You will have to ask whoever you take the wheels to for coating...there shouldn't be any problem with doing that. They might charge you a little more for polishing the lip...but they should be able to do it.

you can paint them it isnt hard. i did mine. first i primed them with 2 light coats. then i used duplicolor paint. did about 4-5 coats. then used duplicolr clear coat about 3-4 coats of that. wait about 20-30 minutes between each coat. heres a couple pictures

its easy to paint them, the real Q is how they gonna hold up before they start chipping away cause thats whats gonna end up happening at some point

I have a set of powder coated wheels on a pick up that I've had for 10 years and they haven't chipped, faded, cracked and still look brand new. I'd definitely look into powder coating.

never said they wouldnt ever chip. if they do i can touch it up very cheap tho. if your powdercoat on the other had chips. not such a easy cheap fix. yeah its more durable. the guy up there might be lucky and his never chipped. i had a set of powder coated rims before and they got chips.

The pic I should above in the thread they are 100% lifetime gurenteed if anything happens they'll fix for me (like norm chips and scratches not self made like curb rash)

your bound to get curb rash at somepoint tho. anyway im just trying to let this guy explore all his options.
powdercoat is more durable and last longer than paint. however if you do get curb rash or chips on any kind the fix is not simple. you have to take the wheel off remove the tire. then take the wheel in to get re coated. then put the wheel back on.
paint is less durable, but fixing is much easier and cheaper. you can touch paint up with the wheel on your car. you just have to mask some stuff off.

With proper sized tires and common sense, you should never, ever, get curb rash.
But, you are right, fixing paint is easier than fixing PC.

He is referring to the fact that black rims look like your welfare check didn't come in so you just need some cheap ass walmart dumpster leftovers to get you by until you can get some real rims...
