I broke my tlok unit (spider gear is the 7.5 inch weak link) barly taking off at the track
It all depends i used to go to the track about every other weekend with 28X10.5 slicks on a 7.5" rear with welded spyder gears and had a 3200 stall converter with hundreds of launches and never had a problem and the gears were used 3.73's
EDIT: and that was on my 82 supercharged built 306
question: Im getting into making mods on my 2000 v6 mustang and everything is stock except for dual catback exhaust that i had put on recently... since it IS an automatic.. i cant hear the exhaust as much as i would like, sounds dumb i guess, but will new gears do the trick in letting the car be at higher rpms so that im able to hear it more often, or is there a different route i should go?
And by the way, I dont go to the track or anything like that, i guess you could just say i have a lead foot, but going with new gears if thats the route to go, will it mess certain things up?
I don't exactly understand what you are trying to say...
Manuals and automatics do not have a different exhaust sound...

yes but with an automatic it shifts at low rpms and just city driving it stays around 1500... my bro drives a standard cobalt with exhaust and you ALWAYS hear it.. mine you hear best at 2000 which is hard to get with an automatic.. make sense at all?
I have an 02 automatic...it just all depends on your exhaust setup.
Your mustang and your bro's cobalt are completely different cars, not to mention the fact that you have different mufflers, exhausts, engines, etc.
If you are trying to make your car loud, that's easy. What mufflers and such are you currently running?
